Is 390hp/tq at the motor or wheels?

I would assume that the factory # is at the motor, but when I see #s of peoples cars, I believe it is at the wheels. If this is correct then are the hp/tq #s higher at the motor or does the dyno compensate for that. I am not sure what the drivetrain loss is either.

So a car modified to 450 hp/tq really puts out close to 500 at the motor?

Its a simple question, but I dont know the answer.

The factory ratings on just about all cars are at the crank but our cars are underrated from the factory quite a bit. Drivetrain loss it generally 15%.

As mentioned above factory 390/390 is at the motor .
Most numbers posted are based on the RWHP derived from a dyno.
It takes around $500 USD (Catback / intake) to regain the drivetrain loss.

390 is an underated factory hp number rated at the crank.... these cars put down around 365 at the wheels stock .. which makes it around 420 at the crank

So you guys with a dynoed car, example above, 418 hp, really have around 480hp? I was wondering this because I see the new gt500 has 500 hp, and I figured our #s had to be close.

yes add 15% back to your wheel HP number and that will be about what you make at the motor. a 500 hp gt500 makes around 460 RWHP stock.

I did 357 rwhp / 366 rwtq @ 100% stock so 'advertised' #'s would've been 410 hp and 420 tq - nowhere near Ford's claim of 390/390. Coletti knew full well these cars were underrated.

Those have different motor different blower. Dyno's read at the wheel. It is what it is. You can't add drivetrain loss after its on the dyno. If one put down 418rwhp then thats what its pushing out.
