Saw one of these today on the highway.. sounded DAMN good, and the looks would definitely grow on you.

Come to find out the original roadster started in 92 using the 5.0

I didn't take light of them until 96 or so when the new version the AIV roadster came out using the 96-98 Cobra motor.

I can't find where they switched to the tumble port design yet.

how can you tell that, without a build sheet?

in 2003, the Esperante GT model had the 320hp motor

their GTS model has the 5.8l 16 valve motor

I think I'm wrong or MT/CD quoted the numbers wrong.

I'm only talking about the roadster which was stopped in 2000 IIRC.
BTW, the GTS is built to SCCA spec.

But I read alot.

Here is one sorce with others stating pretty much the same.

Original Panoz Roadster

Panoz AIV Roadster

And the car in the OP's pic is a AIV version. You can tell by the hood mainly.

I know exactly what it was (once it passed me and I saw PANOZ) on the right side of the back of it.. (suspected that it was a Panoz from the front, but wasn't 100% sure)

too bad I was in the wife's Lexus SUV than my 03 Cobra, could have had some fun..

Ever since I heard about them, I thought they were cool. American made, Cobra engine, hot body...what more could you want?

I agree, Mary. I've always loved this car as well. To this day, I've never actually seen one on the street, or at any car show. Love it!
