We just had a pretty bad storm here in Northern CA. My neighbor has a large tree (~40ft tall) and a good amount of the branches fell on my tuck. Looks like a couple really bad dents and scratches. Does anyone know if it is possible to make a claim against her home owners insurance? Otherwise, I'm on the hook for a $500 deductible.

Thanks!

Just went they this with my stepdaughter and her neighbor, tree fell during a storm, came down across her yard, branches over her car roof and trunk.

Filed a claim, was denied, for two reasons, act of god, and neighbor just bought the house a month before and had no way of knowing tree was rotting from the inside out.

if he had known or been warned, then while different situation.

so now, tree is still up, split where it fell, and now that he knows it’s rotted, If the rest falls and causes damage, then he is on the hook.

Ask your insurance agent. Usually your company will go after their company and you won't have to pay.

That's some BS, I'd appeal that. Insurance companies are such scumbags.

Auto comprehensive coverage is for falling objects/acts of God unless you live in a state that does everything backwards. In most cases they wont subrogate against the Homeowners but I would mention it to them and see if they can get your deductible back.
