Anyone else ABS activate with the ATS’s when cornering on the brakes? Mine seems to pulse a tiny bit if I’m cruising at 40 and slow to like 20 to pull in a parking lot or something.

Not sure if it’s from being on the gas and then letting off and on the brakes quick or not. Never did it before with the stock brakes. Going straight, the brakes grab like crazy and no ABS activating, only seems to be if I’m cornering or turning.

Are your tire sizes different from front to rear. The ABS has an allowable difference before it starts getting confused. WHen you turn, that inside tire turns even slower. SO if you are on the ragged edge of tire differential and take a sharp turn, that inside tire might drop outside the range and confuse the ABS system thinking that wheel is locking when it isn't

All a theory of course.

I’m running 275/35 fronts and 305/35 rears. Could be that actually, my rear tires are fairly new and around when this started up. I use to run 295/35 rears without issues. I’ll have to put my stockers on and test the theory. Thanks, gives me something to try.

Have you physically checked your tone rings and condition of your abs sensors?

If you have a cracked ring spinning freely under certain conditions it could cause your issue.

I don’t think your tires are the problem. Your sidewalls are only 10mm larger in the rear and I know a lot of people run even larger stagger.

I’ll climb under and check them out good. I usually wipe the brake dust and debree from them anytime I am under the car, so if it was free spinning I would notice, but I have not looked hard enough for a crack or anything physically wrong with them. I will check. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's a 3.1% difference front to rear. That's just going in a straight line. Thet difference grows when you take a sharp turn and compare the rotational speed of the inside rear tire to outside front. I've usually heard 3% is the limit for the Ford ABS system but don't have official documentation to if this is true or just a old wives' tale. If this started when you swapped on your rear tires, i'd put the stockers on and see if the problem goes away.

My front and rear tire sizes are 2.8% different and I have zero problems with the ABS.

I think I've found the cause of the leaking rear calipers people have been complaining about.

I think there is a bad run of seals or a company making the incorrect size and those are being sold to rebuilders.

While rebuilding my 38mm calipers I ran into a small issue where one of the pistons would not screw back in. I fought it for way to long.

I originally bought a Dorman rebuild kit because it was in stock. All the kits look the same and I thought they were probably all made in the same Chinese factory. WRONG!

I ended up buying a second rebuild kit from Centric. The piston seal that comes in this kit is far better. By better I mean tighter around the piston.

Here you can see the Dorman seal just sitting on the piston. This seal was never tight on the piston.

This is that same seal pulled to one side.

Here is the Centric seal. This seal fits great with zero gap.

When pulling the pistons out I noticed a lot of seal material on the pistons, in the caliper groove and on the seals themselves. This tells me those seals were rotating in the bore when I was screwing the pistons back in. Below you can see the material that came off the Dorman seal and out of the groove.

Hopefully this helps someone.

i don’t think so. All I have seen is the factory black coating with the Cadillac logo.

Got mine installed. Fought leaks for days but eventually it worked out. Also I guess I overlooked it but at least on mine, the threads are different from side to side on the hard lines. I couldn't use my braided lines because of that.

I'll start on the rear in a few weeks, hopefully I don't have the seal issue mentioned above.

What color you looking for?

Also, unless you run the S&S kit with rotor spacers, there is work required to get these to mount up. I opted to get my calipers machined so I didn’t have to run the spacers, just the offset bushings.

So decide which route you want to go before getting them powder coated. Machine the caliper or rotor spacer.

I bought the spacer kit from the member on here that sells them.

I'd go redfire, black or silver.

Has anyone gotten motivated enough to make a template similar to the Baer brakes template for these?

I often get asked what wheels fit, but really it's less about specs and more about actual spoke design. A template to fit inside the wheel would be awesome!

Just throwing it out there in case i don't do one...

SOmething like this

That's a good idea, I'll try to work on this and host it on the website. ssengineeringllc does have an online store now, finally. I could 3D print templates and offer them as well. Hmmmmm

What is everyone running for a spare tire?
I've seen a few that run the drag skinny for a spare.
I'm wondering if I can go to the boneyard and grab a spare out of a newer Ford. Lots of newer cars run big brakes these days.
