My buddy just put on a 4lb lower on his 04 Cobra. He also has a 2.80 Upper and he put on new 100mm idler pulleys, he also has a superchip in the car. The car keeps smoking and over heating when he takes it for a drive and it runs like a dog. Anyone have this problem when they installed a lower pulley? Please chime in, thanx

I just installed a 4lb lower to go with my 2.8 and have no over heating probelms.
You probaly already did but check for obvious things.
Is the fan running?
Did you kink a radiator hose? etc....
Good luck

Agreed Doug.

He's going to warp the heads quick. :burn: I've seen it once
on a overheating Cobra...fortunately not my own. I did have
overheating issues. As it turned out, it was the neck of the
reservoir not meeting the cap flush. It was warped. Replaced
'em both and the problem was gone.

Definitely sounds serious enough to (A) not drive it and (B) get someone experienced to check it right away. I can't think of what it might be related to with the lower install, but something is definitely wrong. I don't think it is the tune, but that should definitely be checked. I think it is something mechanical. JMO.
