Previous to my other thread I wanted a boat or a fast car and ended up getting the most adorable puppy which has put a smile on my face daily but I'm still feeling an itch for a toy. As of late my Jeep just straight up bores me so I've been flirting and looking at other cars, 15-17 GT's, BMW M3, ATS-V but the mustang has since raised my eye brow. Don't get me wrong I love taking the top and doors off the jeep but lately it's become a hassle. With my current job I'm able to work remote 90% of the time, if I have to go into the office I can come and go when I want. So lately I've been eyeing the 15-17's and found a great deal which is listed below, so would you take the plunge if you were in my shoes? As for mods I'm going to stick to exhaust, tune and lowering kit due to living in the Chicago burbs and bad weather, I don't feel the need to go crazy with power. Another thing is I'm not looking to track it because I just don't have the time but want to roll some gears on the highway and around town. Your thoughts...

Personally I'd wait until the 18's come out. The power train upgrades alone are worth waiting for.
One bit of advice. Stay away from European cars. Or sell it immediately after the warranty runs out. They'll empty your pockets in a heartbeat. My shop specializes in fixing Euro cars and on a daily basis I get owners complaining about repair costs.
But that mustang looks to be a really nice car.

I had a M3 previous but I agree. I've complained in the past that the 15-17 looks derpy but I have to say it's grown on my in certain colors. What will the '18 have in a 6 speed that's different from the current version? I know the auto's are going to a 10 speed but I certainly do not want an auto. I'd rather pony up the extra money and get an older cts-v again or ats-v.

once the 2018s become available to order that price on that 17 is going to drop a few grand. id wait a little bit longer. plus to see what the new stang will be like, though im sure it will be pricey.

are you set on an S550? for what you want, id go 2011-2012 (price range) gt500. just do pulley and it will be a highway killer. with that 17 you'd need to slap a $$blower$$ on it to have any real fun. and when you add the cost of that into the equation, youre getting up near 2013 GT500 pricing. or look at a 16 5.0 (to spend less) and then slap a blower on

Is the trans better in the 11-12 GT500 then the mt82?

Again I'm not looking to go crazy what so ever and race this car.

They are all updated. Dual injection, bump in compression, etc. Mag ride suspension should be an option.

I still don't like the way s550's look. So, id do a cts-v. Fast 4 door must be so much fun.

cant say as far as S550 but leagues better than S197 mt82. i know they fixed some of the issues of the mt82 from the s197 years but im sure it still doesnt compare to the Tremec.

mag ride would be awesome. just will be an expensive option. i can see a fully loaded GT getting up near $60k. (premium, mag ride, 10spd, etc... maybe in vert form). yikes!

Oh yea, hell no to spending 60K on a mustang with those options. That's laughable, escp on a GT and not a higher name brand. I did find a ATS-V for under 50 which as me intrigued.

those seem cool. i havent seen many on the streets. V or non V. i do see the cts-v though. not so many new ones. not like before. maybe the pricing has gotten too high? the V2 seems to have held its value pretty well. it was a great car. im curious if the ats-v will. i do think they look better than the bmw counter-part (imo) and i like what it has to offer. i think caddy keeps turning out great designs while bmw has gone blah. a friend just bought a new 750 and it looks a like a big 3 series lol. not impressive at all. looks like a malibu parked next to an S class lol.

If you want to go fast now, DO NOT get a 2018 mustang gt.

New car will have a speed density (read: not maf) system. It will take some time for tuners to get any kind if meaningful power out of this engine. Let alone get a handle on the direct injection aspect.

Safe bet is get the 2017 as they start to blow em out for the 2018s. Roush and VMP make awesome TVS kits to make your GT a monster

I'll sell you my '15 GT Premium PP with a nice mod list and only 7K miles for much less. I was about to put it on the market but you can have first shot at it. Perfect car and a lot of fun.

The 18 manual cars still get bump in power / DI, updated interior / cluster, more available options (active exhaust, suspension, etc)
