How do you all feel about the new Senate Bill... SB 2611 (Amnesty to Illegals)?
Personally, it makes me sick...

Here's a paper I sent to several Senators & will soon send it to the Sun Times & Tribune.

After spending 4 years ensuring this countries’ freedom by participating in the Global
War on Terrorism. I am appalled by the situations at home.
This country was founded on the basis of immigration. But, never has immigration reached such epidemic proportions. In the past, many families came to America from all over Europe. The majority of these lower-middle class Europeans took a boat Ellis Island & became legal immigrants. They also had the decency to learn English, pay taxes, & contribute to their community in one way or another.
It has been established that the nationwide costs to states and localities for housing illegal criminal aliens is over $2 billion per year. The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was, (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay), a net $70 billion/year, [Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University]. The lic52 fetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the average adult Mexican immigrant is a negative number. So, these illegal aliens are not only a huge threat to national security, but also a huge economic drain.
It is argued that a lot of the illegal immigrants are hard workers & are doing the job that no American citizen would want. This is the most narrow-minded argument that could possibly be put forward! In a study conducted by The Pew Hispanic Center concluded an estimated twelve million illegal immigrants in this nation, and broke down their numbers into these job fields: 299,000 landscapers, 167,000 painters, 75,000 machine operators, 49,000 brick masons, 93,000 roofers, 400,000 construction workers, 128,000 in food preparation, and 436,000 cooks. Do these jobs sound like the type of jobs that Americans despise holding? The answer is a clear and simple, no! There are plenty of “blue collar” legal workers in America that would be more than willing to fill any openings in many of these fields. There are plenty of Americans that would gladly take this job, but many workplaces would rather hire an illegal who’d be willing to work for $6 an hour versus a citizen of this country who would work for $9+ an hour. So, the job goes to the lowest bidder. Hiring these people who have no right to these jobs is despicable, greedy, & criminal! Meanwhile, the latest statistics available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that 3.7% of our 23.4 million veterans were unemployed. Could there be any more perfect candidate than these brave American men?
And now, these same people are demanding “rights”. But, is it really rights they seek or is it another handout? Illegal aliens also say they are being discriminated against. Bingo, senor or senorita! They are being singled out because they came here illegally. And when they decided to do so, they accepted, whether they realized it or not, the likelihood that they wouldn't experience all the privileges enjoyed by native-born Americans, legal residents and naturalized U.S. citizens. That includes the right to drive legally on U.S. roadways, get free social services, etc. These rights they speak of are entitled to U.S. citizens & legal residents. So, the answer to this is actual very simple. If you want American rights, become an American citizen or legal resident! If you do not want to be an American citizen then either go home or enjoy your one and only right here: “You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Do you understand? Anything you do say may be used against you in a court of law…” (Miranda Rights). If you are here illegally you are a criminal. You are entitled to the rights of the accused, & possible deportation.
Today, non-citizens loyalty to this great country is very questionable. Many Mexican immigrants refuse to learn english & insist that everything be written in spanish for them. Never before has a group of immigrants refused to speak english in such large numbers. And, we see more Mexican flags on cars & in windows than we do American ones. National pride is one thing, but ignorance is another. When I fly another flag the US flag is always above it, as it shows where my loyalty lies & is proper etiquette.
Also, it is events like the following that make me think twice: On February 15, 1998 , the U.S. and Mexican soccer teams met at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Mexican even though most lived in this country. They booed during the National Anthem and U.S. flags were held upside down. As the match progressed, supporters of the U.S. team were insulted, pelted with projectiles, punched and spat upon. Beer and trash were thrown at the U.S. players before and after the match. The coach of the U.S. team, Steve Sampson said, "This was the most painful experience I have ever had in this profession."
The bottom line is, if you love to be in this country more so than your own. Then, you learn the language, become a legal resident, respect its laws, & legally work a job. If that’s too much to ask, then leave!
Something has to be done about this epidemic. Yet, when Americans express their opposition to illegal aliens, we then are called a racist, bigot, xenophobic, etc. Many politicians prefer not to even touch the subject of illegal immigration for that very reason & also for fear of losing the Mexican-American vote. As for the traitor US Senators who voted for SB 2611 (Amnesty to Illegals), they ought to be quarantined until next election. It’s time we express our opposition to illegal immigration before it’s too late.
In closing, I’d like to quote one of the great forefathers:
“We should welcome all, but take seriously the rules governing their entry and participation in American life. Anything less undercuts the sanctity of our laws and the value of being a citizen of the greatest nation on earth.” ( Thomas Jefferson)
Sincerely,
