I would be more than happy to help out if I could.

I'm sensing the service company is not tell you the whole truth. They prey on people's ignorance of the situation unfortunately. Do you have a good neighbor that you can get a reference from regarding hvac service companies in your area? I think I would spring for a second opinion. If your system was 12 years or older I would say time to get a new one.

Let me pick your brain real quick if you don't mind -

We currently have an almost 20 year old Florida HP geothermal heatpump in our house, and I had to have the R22 recharged in it the other day. The tech said that it is leaking refrigerant into the water coil, and that is going to be the end of the system, and that it will have to be replaced at some point depending on how bad the leak is. Is that what will have to be done, or can parts just be replaced to repair the leak? He recommended going with a Water Furnace system - are they pretty good? Thanks
