I wanted a Cobra...I just wasn't willing to pay $35,000 for one. I didn't even look at one until I started reading the stories about dealers selling them for almost $7,000 off MSRP. :uh oh:

Gave 23k for mine with 24k on the clock in Oct of 04. Not sure what the original owner paid, but he worked for ford in the finance dept so I bet he got a pretty sweet deal.

It will happen to that gT500 because gas prices are goingup to $4 a gallon sooner than most people think.

What I don't get is the NADA book lists the MSRP at like $34and some change when I know damn well a base coupe was 35k+. My 10th was $36560 and it is listed on NADA at like $34,600. WTF shitbrick!

Depends when you bought it. If you got one when no body wanted them, you could get them new for around or under 30,000, brand new. Like my 03, it's a black 10th annivarsery, picked it up when it had like 6 miles on it, got it for little under 30,000. That's with out a plan.

I got mine when nobody wanted it. This was in October 2004, really really late in the brand new terminator market. It was the last Cobra sitting in the showroom floor at Crossroads Ford, Cary, NC. I was able to haggle the price down to $28,232 brand new for my 03 vert. So I ended up paying $29,500 out of the door ($11,000 off the MSRP brand new). The sales man and his manager said I had the deal of the month.

In December '02, for an '03 Vert, the dealer wanted $47K out-the-door, including $5K adjustment and all the usual add-ons. Made my offer three times over a one month period, and finally got it for $40K out-the door.

New in May 2004, 35k out the door. I wish I would have waited till September and picked up a vert for less than that. Lesson learned for the GT 500 if it ever happens.
