How many people would attempt a t-top conversion?

i was gonna try it..i've had luck finding ppl willing to sell t-top roofs.

i did a t-top conversion on 2 98 firebirds..but thats alot easier compared to fox mustangs.
98 firebirds, u just cut the top layer of the fiberglass roof of, then the t-top frame is underneith.

should i try it. or just sell my 87 hardtop gt and look for a t-top fox?
i just did a 5 lug swap..i was thinking of putting the 4-lug parts back on.
painting it and selling it.

but the other part of me wouldnt mind doing the conversion.
i found a thread on a 4eye mustang message board with tons of pics of about 5 ppl who did the conversion.
and the pics really help. shows how to drill out the revits of the roof u cut off, then you swap it to the car.
might not be that hard

if i do it and i'm successful then i have something to brag about. i dont think half the ppl believed that
i did the t-top conversion on my 98 firebird and friends firebird.

heres a few of the pics i've collected to help me

I'm not sure I'd risk it personally, but I think it would be a cool project. I say go for it, if your comfortable doing the work.

Looks like a big PITA to me. I would sell and get another one. I would rather put the custom work into a 4.6 or Coyote engine swap.

Don't listen to Fishtail. He has spent the past 2 years trying to finish his brakes on his fox. It does look good in the garage though.

LOL, my brakes have been done. First I was re-finishing the interior, and now I'm powder coating stuff...although I've only got one part left for that too now.

i cant remember if the thread i found told u the measurments on where to cut. if not, it'd probably be easier to just buy a whole junk fox body with t-tops, and park it side-by-side with mine and measure that way. theres one a craigslist right now for 400 but i dont have 400. had one guy willing to let me cut the roof off for free and pay 100 for the t-top glasses but then he quit replying.

^The never ending fox body build.

At some point you're going to have to drive that car and enjoy it.

I agree. I have to admit though, part of me dragging my feet has been emissions. As of this coming May, I can get historic tags and not have to worry about it, but until then I've got a problem. There is no way it'll pass as it is.

You don't think you could figure the measurements out from the top you purchase separately? It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to re-enforce the stock t-top assembly anyway, as from what I remember, they leak. Or you could do something completely custom and make a Targa.

PM Saturn5 on corral.net

that is where you got the pictures from, Bob is the man and his SVO is insane.

hopefully he comes in here and whores his car out, it's truly a masterpiece.

what makes his car even sweeter it the fact he has done all the work himself in a small 1 car garage.

ok enough of me swinging from his nuts.

carry on

lol.. nice. if theres any extra advice please let me know.

would u recommend getting the whole donor car or just cutting the roof off one at the fraction of the price of buying a whole donor car?

if u did a whole "How To" article, i'd host it on my website http://www.fastridesonly.com for more popularity.

I'd find a donor car all rusted to hell if I was to do it again. Just to make sure you have all the bits, especially the door glass and door glass adjusters.

I was going to say...aren't the doors and window glass also t-top specific? If so, just cutting the roof off isn't going to work...

Doors, no. Glass and the adjuster mech, yes.
