I can only assume that, if you want to be fast , THAT IS HOW THAT CORNER NEEDS TO BE TAKEN.

When I was a kid in the late 50s and early 60s we used to walk down the dirt road at my grandma's camp in Keene, NY and sit at the end of the road and watch the hill climb sports cars go by on the paved road known as East Hill Rd. We were only a few hundred feet from the finish line on the final straight which was quite steep.

They used to run annually. Typical cars would be MGs, Austins, Jags, Vettes, and even a couple 2 seater T-birds.

The grown ups(just my dad and my cousin Kent actually) would occasionally try to get up east hill rd as fast as possible to see if they could get it into high gear on the last straight. This was typically with full size Fords with 4 barrel V8s.

Needless to say when I came of driving age I had to try my hand at the twisty mountain roads myself, long before I ever discovered SCCA auto crossing and later on ice racing.

My 84 Turbo T-Bird was the most fun, but the Pintos and Mustang 2s gave me a lot of experience and fun also.

It's flatter than a Flounder in most of Texas compared to upstate NY so I really do miss the hill climbs, and mountain running in general.

There were several places where we got airborn in the past. This was one, 2 sets of esses that we got all four off the ground...twice.

I guess old age finally creeped in as we were 6 seconds off our record of 2006. Top 10 then, dropped down to 19th this year. Or maybe finally got smarter?:lol1:
