I am not sure if this is something new but every hotel we have stayed at has a population of homeless people. Our first run in was at a hotel in Indiana. It stunk so bad of marijuana I had a hard time sleeping, so I asked to have a different room away from that mess.

I was thinking let’s change the hotel brand this time and what do you know, same shit. Walk down the hall and the weed smell is ridiculous. We got on the elevator and this lady maybe had two teeth at best and she was blabbing about some dumb shit.

What do you all recommend? We like to travel but this is honestly getting ridiculous. Is there a hotel brand that doesn’t allow this kind of population to stay?

Hilton Home 2 Suites are good also Hampton Inn’s. And pretty much any hotel owned by Wyndham. We like the Slots so any Indian Casino Hotel is very nice but can be a little expensive.

Anytime we are traveling and aren’t taking the camper we use AirBnB or Vrbo. Couldn’t tell you the last time I stayed in a hotel. Typically save money and have a way better experience renting someone’s property

We haven't stayed in a hotel in years. We have had great luck with Airbnb.
I have to agree with this. I normally use VRBO. When the wife and I go to San Diego we stay at a condo on the beach.

However, we have noticed that as the years go by homeless people show up in their camper vans and park along the beach at night and then leave in the morning.

So, it seems the homeless are moving in every where. I don't know what the fix is, but something needs to be done.

Even when we go to Austin it's getting bad. They were never down on 6th street (club/tourists area). Now you can't even walk down there without someone asking you for money.

My buddy says round em up, put them on a ship and push them out to sea roflmao. I kinda agree. Be a productive member of society or be dealt with I say.....

We are actually at a Hampton Inn and are having these issues, really was surprised considering they are part of Hilton. We haven’t had this issue at the Home 2 Suites or the other Hilton hotels.

Those who mentioned the Airbnb, I always worry about cameras and such. I am sure I’m being super paranoid but there are some weirdos out there that do strange stuff like that.

I would however love to do the travel camper because that is one of the main reasons I bought my truck many years back. I just don’t know if we travel enough to justify the purchase of one, especially with the inflated prices they are at nowadays.

Last native hotel I stayed at while on a trip with my parents to Arizona there was no hot water and a period blood stain on my sheets.

IN is surrounded on all sides by states that have legalized MJ.

It will soon be a shithole.

Can’t recall the last time, or ever, I had a bad experience at hotel like you’re mentioning.

Simple Glenn. These people are here illegally. They are illegal aliens and must be deported immediately.

Over the past couple years, we've stayed at a few AB&B, VRBO, holiday inn express, Hamptons, and haven't seen this. But for the most part we've always been north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

This year in particular I’ve noticed this issue and it’s really hit or miss. We were really hoping to stick with Hilton, but we may try the Airbnb as mentioned by some earlier posts. The prices are about the same and if we don’t have to deal with this mess I’ll try it.

Keep your hotel selection around $200 to $250 a night. Problem solved.

I used to travel a lot, both work and personal. I found anything less than $100 was dangerous. Less then $150 was safe, but shite. Had to get near or into the $200's for a decent place. With inflation I'm sure the rates are mid $200's, potentially higher in high cost of living cities.

Last hotel I stayed in was in hill country PA.

No immigrants or homeless but a handful of meth head tweakers. Cops raided the parking lot one night

Good thing they are a reciprocal carry state with MI.

We’re paying 300+ in shithole border towns due to the influx of illegals.

It’s insane.

Sounds like these hotels are taking in these people and raising the rates on those who pay. It’s really ridiculous.
