Hood Mounting.... HELP!

So im takin the hood off my 03 to some semi major work. Wanted it out of the way and upon reinstalling i have a set of MRT struts to go on with the hood. Hood have never been off and still has the painted hood studs and nuts on it. Takin them off slowly trying to get through all the paint. Long story short both bottom studs (connected to the hood) snap off. :cuss:Hood is sealed and rivited of course so any idea how the hell am i suppose to get the old out and some kind of new stud in to remount? Any ideas for a fix? :shrug:

I would suggest having a rivnut pulled into the hood and use a bolt to reattach the hinge. Good luck.

That might work. Thank you. What holds the rivet nut in place?

Compression of the barrel behind the material being installed into.
In other words the rivnuts body sandwiches itself around the hood material. This is what locks them in place.

Should have chased the threads on the studs first. Then slowly run the bolt back then forth until it came off.
This is how I just did my MRT struts no problem.
