HELP??? Car wont go into 5th or 6th

went to pick car up from dealership to fix convertible top and now I have no 5th or 6th gear???

then it got stuck 4th gear while driving


so it sat for an hour.. now it can go into gear..


ANY IDEAS GUYS?

Sounds to me like some guys at the stealership had some fun with your car and broke a few gears in the process....

Sounds like that might be the case, Although anytime ive brought my car to ford only the master tech w/ the lead tech were able to touch it or move it.

Did you take note of the mileage pre/post dealer work? I do that anytime the cobra is out of my control at a shop. I sure hope they didn't bork anything up.

I had an issue like that with my pos Evo after dropping it off for work at the dealership. I happened to be standing in the parking lot as my car flew out and down the road with a mechanic taking it for a drive. He was beating the hell out of it. I told the service manager and he didnt care. Needless to say within 200 miles the tranny blew apart really bad. It did the same shifting thing as your saying before it blew. I never beat on the car either. The dealership ended up not covering it under warranty, blamed my exhaust, intake and bov. I faught it with the attorney general/bbb and never got anywhere. Owned the car less then 1500 miles before I sold it.

Mine has stuck in 4th before, it was broken and sheared shift keys in the transmission. when you say it won't go in 5th or 6th does it just grind or you can't move the shifter to that gate?
Rebuild parts are cheap, the labor will kill you. Thankfully I removed and rebuilt my own.

doesn't grind or anything its weird

had no 4th or 5th then I drove it down the street. after 2 mins had a hard time getting it into gear then it wouldn't release from 4th but it would go into 2nd and I had no neutral.

After sitting for a bit it would go into all the gears?

That's what they all say, don't believe it. I worked at a dealer and been right next to customers and had service managers and advisers say so and then later I was moving their car, I was the lot boy/maintenance/oil changer for the guy at lunch/person who drove you home!

So I go back to the dealership today to check on it. Everything is working fine. Shifts Fine no problems. So friggen weird?

I was driving my car a month ago and getting off the highway the car wouldn't go into 6th gear, it just grinded. Then when I went back into 5th, it wouldn't come out. I managed to get the car home and long story short, when I pulled the trans it was shot. 5th and 6th gear blew and some other stuff. You can check the thread I posted about a month ago. Sounds to me like the gears are toast.

Thats what they tell you. Once you leave, you terminator gets gang banged at the dealership.

I witnessed my car being abused after thinking it was safe at the dealership :fm: as pissed off as I was I still managed to say damn my car sound good. :bash:
