Hail Damage.....Should I?

While applying my first coat of Zaino (sp?) I noticed 3 little hail dents on the roof of my car. Can hardly see in day light but this was in a garage. Took it back to the dealer yesterday and the Hail Guy said that he could fix it no problem but he would have to cut the lining out of the car and then glue it back. He also found about 7 - 9 other hail marks, which I would never and did not ever see myself. I am not very concerened but damn this guy could see everything!

Should I let him fix the ones on the roof? I mean once that liner is cut out and seperated from the roof I can imagine problems in the future. He said he has done 40+ cars from that dealer and I would never know. My experience is that nothing is ever the same!

Thanks!

That's a tough call you're just going to have to make yourself. Either you want it fixed or you don't want to risk it. For peace of mind, though, you might ask the guy for the names of 2 or 3 of those 40+ he has done. Reference checks can be very helpful in making decisions like this. Another question I would ask is if knocking out the small dents is going to weaken the paint. You're saying they are very small and I'm not a painting expert, but the paint is usually an issue when dents are concerned. Did you consider getting a second opinion from a premier paint & body shop now that you know where the dents are? That might also give you peace of mind to make your decision. Good luck.

I thought about that but they will try to switch me to a different color and since I have seen that they do not have any SCM on they way anytime soon, that is really not an option.

CobraBob, you make a good point about the paint. I am just not sure it is worth it. I mean the car is perfect to me and I don't want to be fussy about something only I might notice while waxing it.

Thanks for your help! My appointment is today and I think I am going to miss it....

I have a friend, in Plano, that does paintless dent repair for a living.

The guy is incredible, he can spot shit that I can't see!

He has been doing this for 10 or 15 years and you can not tell a car has been repaired by him.

He has been swamped for the last couple of months, since the hail storm but I bet he can get you done pretty quickly.

PM me if you want his number.

it all depends on his level of expertise! i had a very bad experience on a truck a few years back. had small hail damage that was not real noticeable. the dealer said, "let our expert fix that." long story short... i shouldn't have!!! guess he wasn't the "expert" that they thought he was!

Exactly why I suggested getting a second opinion from a known, reputable paint/body shop. And....get references. If they aren't willing to give references then I'd move on.

Yea after thinking about it this morning I think I will contact B-O-B 03's dent specialist and see what he says. I am not goign to nitt pick about something that would not have kept me from buying this car to begin with. It is such an awesome car! What is really baking my noodle (saw The Matrix last night) is what MOD I will begin with first!

One of life's tougher decisions! But you can do it. I know you can.
