H/C 470rwhp C5 vs stock C6 Z06

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

im getting ready to do my H/C setup on my '02 C5 6spd utilizing a FAST 90/90, G5X3 on a 112 and ETP 215 heads along with the supporting boltons (tune,LG LTs, and U/D Pulley and stock 3.42s). Im shooting for 470rwhp-480rwhp.... My buddy has a stock '06 C6 Z06 and he wants to run me after i swap my heads, from a stop and from a 60 roll......how do you think i'll do?

I think you will lose. Look at the LS7's dynos... you cant beat that extra 500 rpm redline. The car never loses more than 20hp from peak power on a shift.. while most cars lose much more.

It also depends on driver.

I agree. Unless the Z has a bad driver, I don't think you will take him. I ran my own 2005 C6 Z51 with 400 RWHP and a friends C6 auto with around 420 RWHP. The Z had two people every race and the other C6's one. We even swapped drivers to keep it fair and the C6 Z slaughtered the other two. The extra HP will help, but not enough.

Do you own an 06 C6 or an 05 C6? :poke:

Beyond, I sold the 2005 C6 and now have 2006 C6 Z(LeMans Blue) and a 2006 C6 auto with paddle shifters(Victory Red). Both have now been modded. :-D

the LS7s redline is at 7k rpms and thats where my redline is going to be also.... besides what does redline have to do with anything....

im thinking its going to be a very close call....hopefully i can lay down 480 to the wheels which would net me a good 30rwhp over him, but he'll have the torque advantage which will get him in band quicker...i've seen a 450rwhp C5 lose to a stock c6 Z by about a car to 150. so if im making an est. of 480rwhp, it's going to be a real close race....i'm definately getting video footage.......

Id like to see your dyno graph compared to a stock C6Z. I wonder how much the extra cubes help the torque against a built 346. Driver is gonna make the difference here.

im currently in the process of waiting for all my parts to come in...im hoping for 480 to the rear, but we'll see once all said and done....i was trying to get a heads up before i actually ran him.

hmmmm....i may have to switch to my plan B.......which is procharger d1sc pullied for 10psi, but cam and LTs boost loss should put me at 4-5psi. @ 4-5psi, that should net me 500 - 510rwhp.....
my parts are on order for the H/C, but i still have an extremely minimum amount of time cancel.

I think you'll win by a few car lengths unless your racing a great driver or the Z06 is on slicks or drag radials

Doesn't the new Z06 dyno about 435 rwhp stock? I can't imagine an all motor 480 rwhp C5 having that much trouble. I know the z06 has more advanced weight reduction stuff...carbon fiber, balsawood panels etc. What is the weight difference in the two??

Sorry after i re-read the thread I looks like a 02 C5 Z51. The weight on that is 3246lbs.

I think you can take him. Just get yourself some nittos.

Keep us posted.

I'm going to say it will be a toss up. I bet he will win one race and you will win a race. He will have weight and a little more Tq than you but you have an extra 30 or so more RWHP. Both of your cars should be able to pull to 7K. If you drive your ass off you could take him. Now if you had a set of DR's, I would put my money on you from a dig. Good luck and keep up posted. Get it on video!

Yellow, my C6 Z put down 457 RWHP AND 449 RWTQ stock with about 500 miles on it. The norm has been 448 to 458 from about the 20+ I have seen a graph on.
