Got some new shoes for one of my IDPA blasters. VZ Operators. They sell a ton of them so I thought I'd try a set. Not as aggressive a texture as I thought they would be. Might even try a set of their Operator II's soon. More aggressive texture.

I order mine with the "Super Scoop" thumb notch. Not pretty, but makes for quicker reloads on the clock.

Boy that was a box full of bad ideas on all aspects.

Shoot till the threat is neutralized and get some space.

Another reason off body carry sucks.

Looked like a POS pistol and why people think a revolver is easy or safer.....ugh.

Good God, they are nothing but lucky. Two guns and neither of them had one on them? Just a bad idea. Revolver... unless your Jerry.... bad idea.

You shoot until that POS stops moving. This video is 100% proof that unarmed doesn't mean the threat of loss of life is over. Guy dropped his shotgun, but was clearly still a threat. And for the love of Pete.... shoot that SOB in the F'ing face! You're almost point blank range! The T-zone is your friend.

They trapped themselves in a fatal funnel while behind the counter. There was simply no room to move.

They confronted the guy instead of trying to flee to safety after the initial shooting.

The list goes on. Don't get lucky. Get training!

I agree that they should have moved to safety (armed) rather than attempt to confront him and then getting trapped behind the counter. They both could have lost their lives. They were very fortunate that their inexperience didn't bite them hard. Training is primarily important. If you can't get training, at least run through possible scenarios you might some day be faced with, and determine ahead of time how you would want to respond. I do this all the time. Literally every day.

This is why I posted it. It’s very educational.

Center mass was the correct choice for their level of ability. Since they survived the combat, they pass the test. Combat for personal survival is a pass fail test.

This video was on Live PD last night. The hosts discussed it for a few minutes, followed by a Skype video of the mother and daughter being interviewed. Amazing that the perp lived after being shot 4 times. He had been a suspect in a string of thefts in that area. A lot of stores can now be a peace knowing he's been caught.

I don't disagree at all. However, that's kinda my point... "their level of ability". I am so happy that they chose to have a firearm to defend themselves that day and that they won the battle... but they got lucky. They appear to have little to no formal training. Sadly, most firearms owners have little or no formal training and very rarely practice.

^^This

You see it all the time. Guy goes into Cabela's or any other store that sells firearms and buys whatever pistol the guy at the counter likes. They go to the range once or twice and consider themselves to be proficient with a firearm. It can turn out very bad.

I went through about 8 different pistols over a five year period trying to decide on an EDC. Very happily settled on a G43 with some +2 Vickers mag baseplates.

I went with Pearce +1's as I like how they look like Glock pieces, my previous EDC was a Shield 45 which was a great shooting gun but it was heavy compared to the 43

The Shield 45 is a great shooter, but as you say, it's bigger and heavier. I pocket carry a G43 in a Galco Pro 800, if it isn't on my belt.
