I’ve got a set of new 14” Baer brakes on order currently and wondering if I need to do anything with the rears at this time. Most of the stopping is in the fronts I just don’t want the bias to be off.

I’ve seen a lot of people going Taurus swaps with the front ATS’s and wondering if I should go that route too or just keep the stock rears.

I run a 14" brembo GT kit, factory rear brakes in the rear. Will eventually switch to a FTBR 13" rear kit but so far so good.
Make sure you are wearing your seat belt the first time you slam on the brakes after breaking them in. Mine will toss you through the windshield.
One of the best upgrades for these cars

I would contact Baer before you make any changes to the rear.

I would bet their system is designed to work with the stock rear setup unless specifically stated on their site.

I know it is much more expensive, and fronts are most important for braking, but I'd want to match the front brakes. For maximum matched braking and appearance. Just my personal preference.

@redrocket16, which front 14" Baer kit did you get for the front set on order?

I went with the 6P so not quite the top of their line. 6 piston but not the mono block build. I did spend more for the color choice I always wanted though, Arizona Copper. It’s going on my ‘96 mystic.

Not to hijack but what big brake kits work with the stock wheels? Want to upgrade but I kinda like the stock wheels for now.

I’m curious myself. I love the stock 17’s. Just put four new tires on also. Eventually would like a better caliper setup but stock will do for now. The price of the ford racing 00R kit went sky high and availability is low. That might fit.

yes I am running this kit but you need to use 13" rotors. I chose this route so I can switch between my sets of wheels easily

I've been running 14" Brembo monoblock front brakes for 8 years and this past week I finally moved to 14" rear brakes.

I engineered a bracket to fit 2013 GT500 rear rotors on the car and use them with the stock caliper. When I calculated the bias, I'm around 70/30 with my new setup compared to 76/24 with 14" fronts and stock rears. I'll try to make a detailed post later today! Here are pictures of my front and rear brakes.

I didn't want to go the FTBR route on brakes as that locks me in to their custom rotors. This way I can stick with factory wear items.
