Gear Me

I was wondering, those of you who have changed gears in there street/strip cobra, would you do it again? Would you go taller or shorter on the gears after putting in the set that you did? Just trying to make up my mind on what to do with the rear end this winter. I'm going to do bushing all around. Also with the gear swap what tire were you running? I have 26's now and still have a good bit of life left on them so I may be stuck with them for next summer as well. I don't take my car on to many road trips but will take it to the track that is a few hours away and back several time in the summer. I put about 7000-10000 miles on a summer.

C'mon, someone has to have put gears in these cars. Any stoy or even idea or your up coming gear change and why your going to change to what you are!

I have 373's and there a great gear for a street/strip car. With my new build I plan on going to 327's. I plan on being in the upper 700 range and I dont think drag radials will even be able to handle the power. Plus I can keep it in gear longer.

I have 3.73s and love them. I'm kb'ed and sprayed so it makes a little power.

I have a TrueTrac diff with 3.73's. I do open track with my Terminator and this gear set up is perfect!!:banana:

I drove an upper car with 4.10's...loved it, but was a touch too tall. Plan on going 3.90 when I do mine eventually. I run a 27.4" tire at the moment and plan to go up to a 28" tire.

Thanks guys for your input! There are a lot of people with the 373's but thats just isn't that much higher than stock and i'm a little scared about 410's so Im thinking the 390's with the 26" tire next year and then when they are done I'll think about going to a 28", I'll have to see where I'm at with the rpm's at the finish line with the 26" tires first!

I had 4.10s in my 90 Mustang, and it sucked. Almost impossible to cruise. Then again, it was a 3 speed, not a 6 speed. Lol

I have never driven a terminator with anything but the stock 3.55's so i can't say much, but I think the 3.55s are the best gear especially with the power these cars make. 3.55's are here to stay in my car.

I definetly like the stock gear better then the 4.10s I have now.I mean on 28" slicks at the track its awesome but on the street even with a 27" street tire it'll blow them apart from any roll in 3rd gear. It's a ported car making 510rwhp.I just picked up a whipple and 3.55s will def be goin back in this winter.
