Kicked back doing work around the house and have NFS on in the background. I just watched the gas station scene with the trooper, and now it's sticking out like crazy, the filler door is on the passenger side on the mustang in the movie.
Anyone know the reason? They just drilled a hole in the OEM power point lid to mount the push button start, leaving the ridge at the bottom. Moving the filler to the other side of the car seems like a lot of work they probably wouldn't have done unless there was a really good reason. I doubt they did it to all the cars for just one scene to have him close to a dog/trooper?

In that scene, there's an on-the-road fuel fill segment where the girl leans out the passenger window to open the fuel door and help get the fuel nozzle in. Hence the need for the fuel door to be on the passenger side.

Good catch!
I've only seen the move in portions... and missed that scene, but that'd certainly explain it.
It's a nice touch that they kept the continuity. Instead of just modifying one car, just for that one scene they did the modifications to all of them and kept it through the entire movie.

Searching the internet turned up nothing. But with it being a scene it'd explain why none of the articles (that I assume were mostly published before the movie came out) mentioned anything.

Man the worst/funniest part of the movie was when he was trying to scare the chick out the car and drive up the grass to jump traffic. It was a entirely different car jumping, wheels and all. I laughed so hard. Like they couldn't at least put the correct wheels on the stunt car?
