I didn't really think anybody would be interested in doing what I did. I know it is common consensus that blocking the intercooler radiator is not the best of ideas - and I agree. However, I don't like getting pulled over with the no front plates as an excuse. So I thought I'd put them in front of the intercooler anyways - but make it easy enough to take down if need be as well.

I'm going to show it a little backwards, cause I don't want to take the L brackets out of the bumper, but I believe you will get the main idea. For the install, the L brackets were on the license plate, and I placed the License plate into position and placed the long wood screws into the foam.

Once the initial install is done, you can remove two screws and this is what you get:

Here is what I took off (that is not the actual plate, but I thought it got the idea across):

License plate mount in place behind L bracket:

Now license plate lined up:

place in the license plate screws, and done:

Anyways - as you can see - removing the two screws is easy and leaves the L brackets in place. So if I needed to race (which I don't do) it is easy to remove.

I have had this set up for over a year - and for normal every day driving I have not had any issues, even in TX heat.

Anyways - just thought I'd share. :)

Hmm, I just use TORQJNKY's bracket. easy on and off and no screws, drilling, or blocking the heat exchanger.

Dude you just wiped out almost all of the surface area of your intercooler h/e! Unless you plan to install a Killer Chiller at some point, then this is a very bad idea, and you would be better to either spend a few bucks for the Torquejunky bracket, or just drill the damn holes if you feel the need to run the plate anyway. Just not seeing a point to doing it this way...:??:

i've got this slick mount that i believe was a prototype from mgw at some point. surprised they didn't produce/sell these in quantities because it's awesome, stays secure at very high speeds, and easily dismounts

I figured I'd get flamed for this... Even after I already pointed out how bad of an idea it was in my own post. LOL :)

C6z - that looks almost exactly the same as torqjunky's design.

Huachipato - thanks for putting up the install pics. I can understand where you are coming from, especially since you daily drive it. I will definitely take your suggestion and do a bit more homework before I do anything. Thanks again.

Looks similar to my HBH front plate bracket, only mine is powder coated black. It's also been tested to "very high speeds." :-D

Curious,... I haven`t checked to see if it will fit, Swinging plate mount. I did it years ago on a miata, when going slow the plate would hang down. When up to speed it would swing up and out of the way. It was simple to do with minimal cost, used stainless barndoor hinges.

i would rather use the ones above than the OP's design due to you are blocking the heat exchanger a good bit.
