FR500 Mustang - where is it now?

Anybody remember the FR500 Mustang from 21 years ago? I do. Man I’ve never felt so old...
It was Ford’s skunk works car meant to test out a bunch of new parts for the Ford Racing catalog including a dual-x dynamic exhaust system, magnesium variable runner intake manifold and various other go fast goodies, pushing a bored 4.6l DOHC motor to 5.0 liters and over 400 hp. It had an SLA front suspension that moved the front wheels about 5 (edit: 3.2) inches forward, providing a much improved 50/50 weight distribution, and it graced the cover of just about every mustang magazine in existence with myriad write-ups and full spread stories.
Ford was all set to offer the complete package to build your very own FR500 Mustang and then it just fell off the face of the earth. Only a few pieces from the car ever made it to production. A modified, single throttle body version of the intake manifold and the coveted M58 exhaust were a couple to finally make it into the catalog; the latter of which sits quietly in my shed awaiting installation in my Fox Body.
Anyway, my question is what happened to the original car? Or cars I should say. I believe there were at least two, maybe three test vehicles that Ford built. (edit: one silver show car; one white and one black test mule)
My current obsession is to see the car in person and take measurements of the front suspension design. For reasons.
Anyone know where they ended up?

that was the only car the chrome style new edge lights looked good on. Loved the FR500.

Different body panels between the white and silver ones

I like the silver's bullit rear window panel but I like the white's 2001 cobra side skirts over the silver's. Rear bumper looks great from the side, little weird from the 3/4 angle.

New favorite new edge mustang body panel set up:
Front bumper = 2001 cobra + lip (not the cobra r lip, the mach 1 lip)
Side skirts = 2001 or 03/4 cobra (have to see whole car completed)
Side scoops = 03/4 cobra
Side mirrors = 03/4 cobra
Rear window panel = Bullit
Rear bumper = Fr500 rear bumper, shaved s281 saleen
Spiler = Some sort of duck bill, like a cross between s281, 03/4 cobra, and the late 60s shelbys
Shave all the badges, handles, and seams

OooooooooWEEEEEE

Maybe when I win the lottery

Wasn't that engine in the super stallion too? If I'm thinking of the right car.

I'd be curious to see what was done to the strut mounts for those coil overs.

Speaking of different body panels - I'm not even sure the white car had the altered wheelbase, considering the front edge of the wheel well and flare. The hood is clearly a standard piece as well.

It doesn't look like they did anything to beef up the shock tower aside from the mount. To me at least. I'm not an engineer though so I could be missing something.
I guess they figured it was built strong enough to handle the loads from the coilovers.
I also noticed, these cars had no subframe connectors or strut tower bracing, though I feel they could have benefitted greatly from both.

The land of commies and socialists!
I wouldn't be surprised to find out one or both of them are sitting in someones collection or Ford still has them sitting around somewhere.

I would have killed for that SLA setup when I learned about these cars ages ago. To me it was the coolest piece of the car.

I’m really interested in that SLA setup. Obviously there are other systems on the market, but I love that it pushed the front wheels forward for better balance, while still retaining the factory strut towers. it’s a very clever setup and I’m strongly considering duplicating it in my old IRS swapped fox.

The silver version is really, really nice. I'm not wowed by the front grill design, but it IS different. But overall, this one is just plain stunning. I wish Ford had built this one for the 2000 MY as Ford recovered from the 1999 Cobra engine power fiasco and skipped 2000 except for the Cobra R. Maybe a detuned version of the 2000 Cobra R motor making around 325-335hp. Just a pipe dream. LOL.

My favorite prototype by far. I wish they would have made more of the parts. You are correct that there was 3 Cars. White and black were test mules, silver car was the perfected one. I would love to do an 01 Cobra build with the FR500 parts available(if I could find them) lol
