Ford is in trouble. Ford is American. America is in trouble.

When you support Ford, you support America. Please buy Ford or GM.

if they make 70k , then when i get outta law school I better start out at 200k, lol cept the average salary is prob. more like 45-55k...they def. are paid too much for what they actually do with the exception of guys who are buildind shelby engines by hand, that takes more skill start to finish

Do you do realize the Bar exam is a written test in every state?

Im most cases I would agree, but US companies need help in this economy, I think that is worth thinking about.

True, but aside from cars what do we buy day to day that is made in our fair country?

And that attitude is why we are no longer a financial superpower. We have become a "buy what suits me" country instead of "support our country because we are #1" one.

There are plenty of products still made in the USA. And they are SUPERIOR to other products. My home has 85% American/Canadian-made products.

A strange thing happened the other day. Everything works!

The biggest killer to american industry is HEALTHCARE costs. How do you expect to EVER compete when the Asians and Europeans as well as the Canadians have NATIONAL health. You simply can't. Its time this nation fixes this problem. First they'll need to reform medical costs AND PHARMCEUTICAL costs. Why does every other civilized (and some that aren't) have nationalized health and we do not????? Here goes....GREED....do you think the health care industry wants you carving up their cash cow???? It ain't doctors and nurses making it expensive either.....CUT THE MIDDLEMAN OUT! Did you folks see what has happened to our economy in the last few months????? This country needs a makeover bad.......those wallstreet guys aren't even worth what those union guys are worth....and not near as greedy either.

Ford must have plenty of money as my local Ford dealer has their gt5oo marked up to 72k!

Yes, something drastic must be done. All of us are very familiar with the pros and cons about nationalized healthcare. This is old news. We have to change the cycle of greed that put us into this tail-spin. It will take bold and creative actions to solve this, without any fear based decisions getting in the way, such as, how can we afford this? Who is going to pay for this? Etc. I am not saying these are invalid concerns, but these are arguments used time and time again that has got us to where we are. Obviously, the old ways no longer work. We the people must step-up to the plate with integrity and courage to find the solutions.

So let me get this straight...I should buy American even if it is going to cost me a lot more in the long run because the the product is of lesser quality? Gimme a break.

I own a 'Stang, which is American, but my DD is an eight year old Honda, which I can honestly say is the most reliable car I've ever owned, and it was made two hours from my house in Marysville, Ohio. What if I bought a 2000 Chevy Cavalier eight years ago instead of my Honda? I'd be screwed. Instead, I have a car I've put very little money into, is gonna last another 7-10 years;

IF FORD OR GM MADE A QUALITY PRODUCT COMPARABLE TO MY HONDA IN 2000 I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ONE...BUT THEY DON'T.

And as for line workers...I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and a lot of people I knew worked at GM Lordstown. My best friend's dad worked there...he was a drunk who slept all day, went to work at night, and made $32 an hour to work the line. I believe he finished high school, but from talking to him you would never know it.

You're wrong. Read the quality reports. See you're part of the problem, percieved quality this isn't the 70's.

I've owned many cars over the years including a BRAND NEW Toyota. It was the most poorly built, troublesome car I've ever owned.
I drive a 2001 Explorer with 100k + miles, never a problem. So what's your point?

Ignorance is bliss huh? So all the auto workers are drunks? Kind of makes sense you would draw that conclusion based on how you figure your Honda is the best. Seriously, there are people with drug and alcohol problems in every single profession including yours.

I worked in the auto industry for 42 years in several different plants for both Chrysler and Ford. I worked on the line and in quality control and in HR, etc - both hourly and salary. Yes, there are some drunks and druggies working in auto plants. As there are everywhere else.

I have some eye problems and have to have some regular checkups. Twice this year I have had an eyelash stick to my eyeball - really irritating after a while. My eye doc pulled it off with a pair of tweezers - altogther, by the time he got the tweezers out of their package and pulled the eyelash off - took about 30 seconds. He billed my insurance company $250 each time! Hows that for "health care costs?"

Yea I hear you on that one, the big 3 just can't compete with jobs within the USA cause of the Unions. They can go over to China and pay some little chinese guy $50 a week to do just as good of a job, my friend who works at a GM plant use to make like $80 grand a year pressing a ****ing button on the assembly line, when they dropped his pay to $50 grand he went on strike. Yet he drives his Lexus to work at the GM plant and wonders why he is losing his job.

Please tell me that is a made up story. . . . .that is such a piece of crap thing to do. :nonono:

So I'm wrong? Take a look in my driveway, there's a car that gets me back and forth to work everyday and I have had no real problems with for 8 years. So if I gave you the choice between a 2000 Civic, Cavalier, or Escort you would choose the GM or Ford over the Honda? If so you are foolish.

I didn't say "All line workers and members of UAW are drunks". The purpose of my comment about the line worker being a drunk was that it is unskilled labor and shouldn't be compensated so highly. You have to wonder why someone would pay an unskilled person $32 an hour. If you think its a good idea, you must not be in business; you must work for a charity.

All I'm saying is that I bought a DD that has worked out very well for me and won't be letting up any time soon; It was made in the state that I live in and I know that it is going to start every morning when I turn the key. I've paid very little in maintenance as well. If a Cavalier, Escort, Focus, etc could do that, I'd be driving one, but the truth is, they can't. They have closed the gap, but why switch to something else when what you have is workin' just fine?
