Fedex requires an ID to ship a package?

I've never showed ID at UPS nor USPS.

No, but, when you first ship, they ask for your info and enter it into the system.

FedEx asks for your ID to do the same thing. Different method.

I drop packages off at FedEx and UPS all the time and never get asked for ID. Maybe because I prepay online before I take it in?

I just dropped off a large package at FedEx last week and did not have to show an ID. They accepted the package, printed me a receipt, and that was it. I don't use UPS so I can't comment on them. I drop off packages at the post office pretty much daily. I've never shown an ID and have never heard any of the clerks ask for one. They do, though, ask customers to say YES or NO to a list of hazardous items like lithium batteries.

Seems like these policies differ from one FedEx/USPS office to another.
