Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
My best mate owned the best gym in Brockton Mass and was he thought happily married.

One day she serves him out of the blue and it’s on.
She wanted half of everything including the gym so he said **** no. Agreed to give her the whole house and half of everything but said if she touches the gym he’ll burn it to the ground.

Long story short. He ended up keeping the gym and living in a trailer in the parking lot for years.

It all happened so long ago, ( 1996 ), but a couple of things stick in my mind:
Her lawyer said I had to move out of the house, no problem, but understand I won't pay any bills on a place I'm not living.........( last I heard about moving out )
Splitting up property, everything was easy, & when it came to the house !
............You take the house, I walk away.
............I take the house, you walk away..............I got the house, she got nothing.
My lawyer wanted me to get rid of the house, but after 20 years of moving around in the Navy, I wasn't moving again,............( house was paid off in 2009 )
.................Alimony is just a line item on 2 tax returns.
Debt free, - 7 figure nest egg, - 6 figure bank account.......it all works out in the end !!

It takes very little to make a man happy, a gym and trailer sounds perfect…its really all you need

Well then.. this is great.

Mine went off on me today because.. she went to lunch with her best friend.

I left work, and proceeded to drive home as per normal

I didn’t look at her location to see if she was still out at lunch 2 hours later and just went home instead of asking why lunch was taking 2 hours

Dude you are way too early in to be dealing with this nonsense.

Don’t even enjoy being with this person cause all you do is make it sound ****ing miserable.

The gym was in a very bad area so he slept with one eye open. The trailer was a piece of shit and he suffered in the heat of summer and cold of winter. He was in there with his boxer dog and son so it was cramped. He was not happy.
He was a very bright man and an extremely educated investor so he built back all his wealth over time and is doing well now.

The land of commies and socialists!
I think about being gay ALL the time. Have a dude to hang out with. Play sports, watch sports. Family dynamic would be simple.

Wouldn't have to decorate, things would be easy.

Hell, I’d even accept a blowjob. Things would be weird though when he wanted one back.

What can I say, I’m selfish (and not gay).

Best thing I ever did with my X was never legally get married and lied to the whole family and said we got married in city hall. We got sick of hearing when are the kids coming and big wedding. We wore a real wedding bands and nobody ever questioned us, did my parents get upset that we didn’t invite them to city hall yes but they got over it. It was such an easy transaction buying her out on the house and keeping my money and cars and other assets.

Yep. When we got engaged, we sold each of our individual houses, then bought one house. I had $100k in equity...she had $1250 haha We split the $101,250 right down the middle.

Jesus that sucks. I remember like it was yesterday I asked my x how much do u have in your bank account she said $2000 I said well here is $2000 more everything I have I keep for our retirement when we are old together. She said that’s fine and fair we will build it up with hard work. I said perfect and moved forward.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. My ex never messed with me. We had an amicable divorce. She got custody of the kids, but I could see them whenever I wanted. I paid child support until the second one turned 18. She never came after me to have the child support adjusted/increased. She was never a pain in my @$$ and most of all I think I had to see her twice since we divorced in 2000. Once at my oldest wedding and once at my youngest college graduation. Other than that it's like she never existed LMAO!!!

That’s how it should be

Was just talking to my mom the other day about women now and how screwed up their priorities are and how society has warped their heads. She just turned 68 and my dad 70 last week so they're much more traditional, and what they see in society and younger people in general is complete opposite of what they know and grew up with. I'm 38 now and the last of the kids not married. I'm fully okay with marriage or staying single if I have to, but preferably I want marriage because being alone really does suck. I'm a cautious one though and I'm not going to stay with someone I'm not attracted to or annoys me, and Ive dumped girls for exactly those things because I just dont have the patience for it.

My most recent ex was awesome though. A real sweetheart and my best friend and I wanted to marry her, but her absusive ex husband screwed her up too much apparently and she couldn't commit so we ended after that. It was hard to find the rationale in her reasoning for breaking up because it was a good relationship and why ruin a good thing and work through the problems together? But I think a key factor is girls don't want to feel like the problem in the relationship, they want to be the one that's fixing and saving someone else as everyone knows. I was technically the savior in that relationship and she always felt like the broken one and so she convinced herself she wasn't prepared for something more and that it had to be broken off. I feel it was ultimately pointless because she was completely functional and open to talking about the scars from the past marriage. I understood that it's a healing process that can take years or decades but the self-destruction of the relationship still took place.

I feel like most men's priorities stayed about the same with much less deviation compared to women. We all mostly want that picturesque American life with wife and kids and a home, but with women, the needs and expectations are completely ridiculous and unobtainable for them and most men, but they think they'll get it, and then before they know it they're all dried up and ugly and can't conceive and by that point they've squandered multiple good opportunities.

Not sure that pertains to the thread since I'm not married or divorced but I guarantee a lot of the divorces are caused by the values women have currently adopted. Even women who are relatively Conservative still hold many leftist ideals because it's in their nature, and leftist ideas are toxic and destructive to any relationship.

I got married for the first time at in 2010 at age 37, so don't sweat it. Still married today.
