i'm a big time e85 noob....i know it's been beaten to death and i've been reading through posts the past few nights, trying to piece it together and it's not working. :read: = :bash:

2004 cobra
my current air and fuel delivery situation is a 2.2 kb 3.25"/4lb(19lbs), 60's w/stock pumps + BAP, jlt rai w/sct 2600 maf, accufab sbtb and lt's, o/r x and catback (600/530 +/- on 93 depending on the day) and i'd like to get 700, or at least close.

what the hell do i actually need to get my cobra retuned and making power off e85? bigger injectors, bigger pumps. is that it? are stock fuel lines e85 compatible and can they support that much power? will GT pumps work or do you need specific pumps for ethanol?

lethals budget return system says "e85 coating standard", but then specifically mentions the 465s are e85 compatible but nothing about the others.
Lethal Performance 99-04 4V Budget Return Style Fuel System - Lethal Performance Fuel Systems - Fuel Systems - Fuel Delivery - 03-04 SVT Cobra

obviously i'd like to get a return style, but that's not really in the budget at the moment...

TL;DR - what's the minimum needed to support e85 in a 2004 cobra?

I run Fore Fuel Hat with Twin GT Pumps, Dual FPDMS, BAP, Wire Upgrade, -8an Fuel line, Division X Rails (not required), Division X Filter, and 80Lbers. Still Returnless. I'm at 85% on Pumps and Injectors. Have a 2.8KB and put down 720ish. And 04sleeper tune!

The DX 340 pumps ARE fine in ethanol, just went through this recently. The big walbro 465s are the only walbro pumps specifically ok'd for e85 by walbro

Fuel Pump Selection

This is a nice chart of the pumps by Fore. As you can see, the gt pumps and 465s are the only 2 walbro pumps E85 warranty backed. Now I have seen and know of people using the GSS342s with E85 success even without the warranty....but I would avoid the 405s(F90000262) like the plague. I've read of more E85 failures with those pumps than any other. Don't use them.

I am running GSS342 x 3 in my car with E85 without any issues yet...

I was faced with this same dilemma a few weeks ago. I ended up going with a return system from Lethal, the 850hp one with upgraded lines and pumps. I chose Walbro 465's

What fuel lines did you get? And how long?

Maybe im missing something but why would the same pump at the same voltage and same psi flow less lph with E85 compared to gasoline?

I can't figure that out, either. I've tried googling all across the net for an answer to that but can't find one. Maybe 04sleeper will see this and respond or you could always give Justin a call at Fore

^Just taking a guess, but perhaps it has to do with the specific gravity in the E-85 (.801) vs that in 93 without ethanol at .720...

I as well await 04Sleepers input...

Bingo!

Wow, in all the E85 research i have done i have never heard this before... lol you would figure this little nugget of info would be out there a bit more since you need 30% more fuel and pumps flow less on E85 due to an increase in specific gravity over gas. This info would have probably steered me to 465 pumps since now i know that my 340 pumps dont flow 340 on E85. :uh oh: :??:

Sounds like the setup for me with the Eaton and 125 dry shot.
