I would like to hear from others their suggestions based on actual ownership of drag radials.

My Nitto NT555R drag radials are done. Any suggestions on what to go with this time around? 315/35R17 is the current size I am running. I leave them on the car and want something that will somewhat last.

No drag radial will last long. I found the 555RII to be lights years ahead of the 555R. Just replace it with the 555RII.

Good luck finding them. I ordered mine from Jegs took 6 months to get lol but guys find em on Fleabay from time to time but they go fast when they are in stock.

Havent checked lately whats available but that 315 is a popular size. Like ANY drag radial I own for any of my cars I replace the drag radial every year.

The Pro Radial is the tire to have but u need a 15 inch rim. I replace those every year on my Mustang. U cant heat cycle them too many times I have found otherwise they lose their grip.

I have a new set of 315/35 Toyo TQ's in the basement waiting to be bolted on in the spring. First time trying them.

My local Discount Tire claims they can get them in two days.

i always liked hoosiers

i would get a max of about 5k out of them mostly street driving and a few dragstrip events
I agree. Hoosier's are a great option.

The lack of any kind of tread is a non-issue for me, since the car never sees rain.

Have run both in 18s:
TQs - 315
555RII - 305
I like both. 555RIIs might last a bit longer since they're a 100 wear rating and the TQ is a big fat 00.

And if you're wanting to move up to 18s, I know a guy who's unloading a set of practically new Forgestar D5s with the 555RIIs already on the rear wheels. haha

I've had really good luck with Hoosier DR2's. Car would consistently cut 1.5 60fts and even dipped into the 1.4 a few times on a 315/35R17. They also hook fairly well on the street and my car makes north of 800 wheel.

Those of you running the TQ's, what do you usually run for pressure? I think I ran my Nittos at 28 or 30psi.

I'm not hitting the track any time soon. This will be for driving around and occasionally heading to Mexico.

Thank you for the info.

I had TQs but never ran them at the track, it was my understanding they’re the same compound as the 555R
I realize Nitto and Toyo are under the same ownership but I wish someone with some insider information would post a list of what the real differences are in compound etc

R888R, 555R, 555R II...

I had the NT05R a couple years ago and wasn't impressed, but I was on Eibach Sportlines and the car was a stick.
