I personally own a Rocky Mountain Radar, and I am just curious if it is worth anything more than a Radar/Lidar detector?

check out passport's site. They have an old article ('99) from automobile magazine that will walk you through the details. You can also google "radar jammer" and that will yield alot of results aswell.

there was one "jammer" that worked but it really wasn't a jammer by definition. It was more a radar transmitter that would transmit random radar signals constantly while the car's ignition was on. The idea was that the gun could not distinguish its signal from the "jammer's" and it did work most of the time but on occasion, the gun would recieve the signal and read way higher than the actual target speed... "... try explaining that to the explaining officer..."

Regardless, the FCC has outlawed that unit as it is against the law to transmit radar constantly. You can build your own but it still doesn't do anything to laser.

Don't waste your time and money on these things. I caught a guy one time that had three radar detectors and a CB radio. I can defeat the radar every single time. Funny how they say, but officer my radar didn't go off. I say will take it back and get you a more expensive one then. All it does is let you know that you just got caught!

Dont listen to most here, most here hate the fact that Laser jammers DO infact jam lasers. The best one (the one I use) is the blinder M40. Anyway for those that say it doenst work what about this?

A few days ago I was just getting on the GSP and as luck would have it I didnt do my normal floor it method to merge on the parkway at around 80MPH cause a few cars behind me there was a state cop. Anyway after I spotted him I jumped in the slow lane and played it safe until he was long gone. I get up to a toll booth and dont see him anymore, so I take off from the toll booth and now am the lead or pace car for both lanes. About a mile from the toll booth im still lead car ahead of everyone else by about 10MPH. I go around the corner and all of a sudden my radar/laser detector goes off reporting a laser warning, my jammer kicks in and blocks it. Not only did my jammer save me from a ticket but it saved about 10-15 other drivers from a ticket. You would have to be an idiot not to think a cop was hiding somewhere if the leader starts breaking for no reason (IE no cars in front). When I passed the cop I waved and drove on, he didnt get me or the pack of cars following me.

That is crap. Did you stop and ask the cop what was going on with his radar as you passed? Everyone on here is so oblivious to the fast that Whistler, Blinder, Valentine, Cobra, Escort, etc are all companies trying to make money. They want you to believe they work, when they really don't. The only part of a detector that works is the detector. The jammer is just a way to make you spend an extra $200 on something.

Furthermore, if they truely did work, they could not be sold. There is this little organization known as the FCC, Federal Communications Commission. They really don't like it when people sell things that intentionally provides interferrence with other's people's toys.

IF you really did your homework, you would know. And im talking farther than what Joe Blow the radar detector/jammer owner on the internet says....

Hmm, lets see...he lasered me at 75 in a 45 (road work zone), and still didnt get me? It was clear that he was in a speed trap cause of the way he was parked ,he was facing incoming traffic on a 45 degree angle. I know he just let me go out of the goodness of his heart, right? LOL

And as for doing my homework..there is a cop a few streets away from me that is a family friend. When I first got the blinder M40 installed I had asked him to test it for me. All his attempts failed when using laser as blinder did do its job of jamming every laser attempt he used. And no Blinder M40 isnt 200$....its more around the 400$ range, but thats not the issue here.

It depends if you are talking about jamming RADAR or LASER.

Radar is illegal to interfere with or jam, and is controlled by the FCC. As you have stated, they don't like you doing this, and you can get into serious trouble if you get caught doing so.

LASER on the other hand is controlled by the FDA to my knowledge, and as of 6 months ago the LASER jamming units were legal. I haven't checked up on the topic in a while, but this is what I researched and asked my neighbor who is a statie in Ohio. The units that are sold to jam LASER like the SRX, ZR-3, and others are fully legal and do infact work.

I do not really understand the point of a radar/laser jammer... I mean most cops I have ever talked to can look at a car that is moving and guess 3 to 4 mph within the speed they are going... so even if you do jam the laser or radar or whatever, most cops will still pull you over if you are going 10+ mph so what is the good in having one? becuase even if you KNOW they didnt get your exact speed you cant really defenend yourself in court.. you are just gonna have to take it up the butt becuase it is the officers word agianst yours...

Nothing by RMR or Rocky Mountin Radar will jam laser or radar and their radar detection sucks.

Here are some videos of all RMR products not jamming anything:

There is only one active radar jammer made today that jams X band, K band, and Ka band radar. It is called the Scorpion "Ultimate" Ka jammer and it will cost you about $1500.
