What's the differences between the various Cobras, say from 1995-2004.
I have an 04 but I'm wondering how it compares to a 1995 Cobra....

fixed 4.6 hp #s.96-98 had 4.6 DOHC rated at something like 305 Not entirely sure.
99 and 01 were first with IRS, had 4.6 rated at 320.
Yessir96-98s were rated at 305?
Because you have more low end torque. You should have launched on him and then he should have eventually edged you out. (equal mods/drivers, etc.)yea i much more agree with the 260. My car stock was right with my friends cousin's 98 cobra
but 305 rings a bell for some reason.
yeah, 96-98s were rated at 305, and the new edges were 320. Those are the solid facts for listed numbers from Ford.
I believe the Machs make the same 305 as the 96-98. don't quote me on that tho...could be the 320, but 305 rings a bell for some reason.
yea, machs came rated at 305
I have a Mach and wasn't aware of these differences between the two years.....what's change between the two....besides different color options and valve covers, I wasn't aware there was an output difference between the two years.....?:shrug:Sort of.
In '03, they were 305bhp and 320tq.
In '04, they were 310bhp and 335tq.

Fair enough...and in retrospect, considering the '99 Cobra issue, I can totally understand Ford's rationale behind underrating vs. overrating.....! Thanks!I'm not really sure. I know there are dozens of different rumors floating around, but no substantial answer. I think the main thing is that Ford realized the engine was underrated (Mine dynoed 290/314 stock) so in '04 they upped the power by 5 and torque by 15, which was still a little low. Mechanically, an '03 and '04 have identical engines, (despite valve covers) it was just a numbers game played by FoMoCo.
