@Blkkbgt I just bought it. It is the BFD code and mine was a BFC code. Im guessing its just a job built date suffix or a build date but it says it will work. Fingers crossed. Thank you for finding that man, i cant thank you enough for the help!

I also bought a used one on ebay, i couldnt find any at first but then i looked under pcm rather than ecu and found it. Its a BKA code which per the parts website is the model that replaced the new one that was just bought. Hopefully they will both work and i will have a backup if the other one ever pooters out

Two questions:

Were they using a battery charger when they were flashing it?

What exactly happens when it gets "bricked"? Is the file system corrupted, and you can't restart another flash? Could a Ford dealer flash a bricked ecu? Or is it something else?

When a module gets "BRICKED" @ShelbyGT5HUN from low voltage it corrups the firmware and/or damages the hardware and renders it useless (BRICKED). Nor can a dealership help reflash or a "BRICKED" module be reflashed. It can be repaired sometimes by compuer repair specialist like About Us - Flagship One. This generally happens when you use improper equipment to maintain proper voltage to flash/program a module.

@1Kona_Venom probably not. Right now i am in the unfortunate position of them already having purchased a tune/sessions with palm beach dyno. It would be a huge task to cancel all that out, move and tow a bricked car, and find another shop in the area thats familiar enough to get it to completion.

I think as of right now i have to be at the shop every step of the way to make sure they dont kill another one.

I think the take away from my story to everyone is to buy a backup ecu if/while you can because they are no longer made and if one goes and you dont have another one, you are done.

Ill keep this thread going as things develop. The used ebay ecm should be arriving Wednesday and i should have an answer on its function by the end of the week. Fingers crossed

Well damn, I think I'll make sure to have my car on a tender/charger when I flash tunes from now on. This sounds like a pure Pain in the Ass!! Glad you were able to find replacements.

well damn

I would certainly hope the shop is looking around or helping with this in some way seeing how it's their ****up. Any time my car has been in the shop for tune work they've always had it on a charger

Update for anyone following this….

Lund advised me to contact power by the hour regrading the 5.0 ECU swap. I called and connected with Justin and i told him the dilemma and my thoughts. He said rather than do the 5.0 ECU, a 5.8 ECU will swap in and all it will need is a flash. He also advised me that i can send in the OEM bricked one and he can take a look into it and attempt to repair it.

While waiting for the shipping label, the shop called and said the used ECM i purchased from ebay worked and was able to be flashed. So at this point i am going to run the used ECM, ship the oem to PBH for a shot at repair, and if it is irreparable i will buy the 5.8 ECU as a backup. Hope this helps someone in my shoes

Post on the hp tuners forum and ask if you can flash any Gen 1 coyote computer to be a GT500 computer. I believe that all Gen 1 coyote computers are exactly the same hardware wise. F150s as well.
