Edit: Title was meant to say "Coupe or Convertiable".

I'm having really hard time finding a Cobra I want with LOW miles and Black. I found one, but it's Converitable at 14k miles and 2003. I'd like a 2004, but not really that big of a difference between the two years.
This will be a Summer car only, never will see bad whether unless something RELALY bad happens, but doubt that. Will be covered at all times and well taken care of. It's going to be my race car, but also used for the streets, just not as a daily driver. I've never seen a Convertiable race before, well set up for racing ect.. I don't think I'm into Convertiables, even though it's a Chick Magnet. Convertiables weights more, which I like that.

Would you rather have a Convertiable or a Coupe?
I'm going in today to see if I apply to get the Cobra, but I'm just curious for others opinions and what they did.

Ps. The car is so clean that you can eat off the bottom of it. Prestine condition and the owner had it for a collector item/show case car or whatever.

I love my convertible. She's mainly a garage queen and comes out in nice weather. Nothing quite like dropping the top and still beating most cars on the street.

I will tell you this though, first things you need to do are suspension and strengthening mods to help the convertible not be as flexible. I have Kenny brown double subframe connectors, matrix bracing, jacking rails, k member brace, forward torque brace, front and rear strut tower braces, MM IRS brace, MM aluminum diff braces, and H&R race springs. I can pick up 3 tires jacking in one position under the car. It's currently on jack stands in the garage and I can open and shut doors and let the top up and down with no alignment issues.

*edit*
I do track the car both on drag racing and autox and haven't had any issues so far. If you plan on going to a track that is strict on tech you will end up going with a 6 point cage, which I believe has no place in a street car.

Well I do know the rear end has been reinforced (a lot, from what my brother says) and has had a lot of mods done to it. But I'm trying to get the Mod List to see what's been done and what I need to do to it. I wont take it to the AutoX or anything (that I know of, as of right now), just street, curising, showing off and drag racing.
See I think I don't like Convertiables because I was scared by people saying that it will wreck/ruin them for racing and what not.

Do the 03-04 Cobra's have Rear Independent Suspension? Becuase this one does.
It has Sub Frame Connectors and some BIG Piping going from one side to the other side, kind of looks like a Sway bar, but way different, like goes up and across. It's been lowered supposedly with good suspension so my little brother says. He's the only one who can fit under there and then from the little much I can see. haha I do believe it has a upper pulley kit or maybe even more then I know. This one pulley doesn't look stock. haha
It has 315's in rear and 275's in front, Nitto's something and brand new. Stock looking Cobra rims, but they're the upgraded version. I believe 10 inch or 10.5 inch width wise. H Pipe and I'm sure it has Cats on there. :/

That's all I really know, but like I said I'm trying to get the Mod List. I'm going in later tonight to see if I can apply for the loan. 14k miles, well maintaned, I have the carfax, they're asking 27.3k and I wont pay more then 24k.
The dealer who is trying to sell it was a complete dick to me, my little brother and his mother. Which is uncalled for and part of the reason I will talk him down. As well because it WholeSales at 23.5k and I can find cheaper in California, but that's far. After he was being a dick, he tried to tell me stuff about it and I had to turn around and correct him EVERYtime. At that point he started to shut up and then started asking me questions about it. He was like you guys know to much, my little brother was like just my brother. He loves mustangs and even better the 03-04 Cobra's. Funnier then **** I tell ya.

Edit: I have pictures, from what they sent me, that's if anyone wants to see.

I'd say if you are trying to build a race car, go coupe.

Personally I have a vert but I got it b/c I wanted it for enjoyment...is it going to have 700 HP one day. Sure. But I won't ever turn it into a drag car. Just for enjoyment. That's my take on it.

Well it wont be like a complete drag car, like, I don't know how to explain it. But I'd take it to the drags to race it and have fun. But would be like a cruise around durning nice whethers, showing it off, having fun, taking it to the beach and whatever else.
I'm no where going to turn it into a Drag Racing car, not even close. Just a normal car with A LOT of power.

i have a vert and i love it. i drag race it alot too
How long have you been racing it?
Have you had any problems?

I think my biggest problem is because I almost had my hands on another one, but it was Black, Coupe, a ****load of mods that were done proffesionaly, 532 to wheels, 25k miles and asking 16k. I got my hopes up and then he shut me down at the last minute.
So maybe I'm not trying to get my hopes up until I get it, I think that's where it's all at. But I wanted FeedBack/opinions.

i go to the track once a month the only thing i have broke was a half shaft.

Is that because you Launch?

Since I hate waiting and want one as soon as possible. I could always get it and then later down the road or sooner trade it off for another one that I want. I guess it all comes down to knowing if I can actually get it or not. My hopes are saying down so I wont get all EMO if I can't get it. haha

I know verts are considered to have a disadvantage against coupes in terms of racing because of the weaker subframe and the heavier weight.

But what the heck man, get a vert. I LOVE mine!! I've only had it about 1.5 months and I already don't have enough fingers and toes anymore to count all the times I've have compliments thrown at me on the street...literally...while driving lol!!

Well now I know that. I probably wont go to the track as much, I'd spend WAY to much money. LOL

Yeah, but Mustangs in General have a light rear end, so in my eyes the heavier the better, just add more power.
That's what I was thinking and this one is BEYOUND clean and well taken care of. I find out tonight if I can get it or not, so we'll see. I'm sure I'll fall in love with it after I get it.

Edit: Either way I'm getting the Terminator like I wanted. :D

Yeah I think I'm going to get 2 Cobra's, because I really want an 04. So I get this one, Convertiable, when paid off or down the street get an 04 Black Coupe.
Yes I think the Coupe looks meaner in my opinion too. But in general the front end looks mean as ****.
Then again I'm getting a Black with a Black Convertiable top or whatever. I guess it's all good.
I leave in a hour or two to go check .:D
Wish me luck!

Best of luck with your decision. Sounds like you're close to going for the convertible. I was going to say if you've never had a convertible before it's a harder decision to make. Not everyone likes convertibles. I would personally only buy a coupe but that is just my own preference. When you close the deal post some pics.

I'm pretty sure I know the one you're looking at. I believe my buddy owned it. It's been taken decent care of. He drove it pretty rough around town, but only dragged it a couple times. Black is a pain in the @$$ color to take care of too!

And are you really going to pay $6k more for that, versus what I am asking for mine that you were interested in?
