No other way to start :xpl:

Tuesday 5/5 4:30 PM
Was driving east on I-275 (Cinci bybpass). At the US-42 interchange (between I-75 and I-71). Moved from left lane to center then to right to get around some slow traffic in the left lane. accelerated to get around the car in the center lane. Pushed on brake to slow down to merge into center lane.

Front left locked up. (Still waiting on confirmation, but think the rotor broke). Sent me into a skid. Slid through the center lane, through the left. Clipped a traffic barrel with the drivers side rear quarter.... Then slid back accross all 3 lanes and shoulder, into and through ditch, into some brush/tress. Impact was enough to deploy the airbags. All from about 70mph. Based on the outcome, and my admission of going about 70, have been charged with Recless Opp. but am going to try and fight that.

Fairly heavy pre-rush hour traffic. VERY grateful there were no other cars involved. Co-worker in the passenger seat. Scared the hell out of him, but not hurt. Couple of bumps etc.

I, on the other hand have a compression fracture of the L1 vertebrea. (just below the rib cage). Not bad enough to require surgery, but will be a long recovery process.

Insurance adjuster said Thursday the car is totaled. Started the negotiations with them regarding pay out on Friday. Am also trying to be able to buy it back as salvage, but they are being dicks about that.

So, for the indefinite future, I will be out of the 'fast car business'.

Sorry about the car and the back they never really get better. My back was so bad when I orderded my car I couldn't push the clutch in on the show room car. They sales guy face dropped fig lost sale & said sry they don't sell a auto. I said yep love the car lets order one! he said I said they have no automatics. I said don't matter love the car.

Seriously though make sure you go to the best back specialist not just reg doc. I have fought terrible problems and now on second surgery. Be your own best advocate don't settle that this is the way it is if pain still there bud.

Wow that sucks...any pictures?

Nope no pictures yet. I have barely been able to get out of my recliner. Between the broken bone pain, and the muscle spasms.... It has not been a good week. I'm hoping to get down to Cincinnati tomorrow and see the car for the first time.

Sorry about your loss man! It could have been a lot worst.

Sorry dude. Get a good lawyer and deny you ever did 70 - make them prove it. Good luck.

The speed limit on most interstates is 70, or atleast 65. Very fightable.

Good luck, and I hope this will not deteriorate you from purchasing another. Gotta be careful with a car that has 420+ hp on tap.

Best Wishes and get well soon!

The back specialists that are treating my wife said.....NO RECLINERS. No matter what. They say that recliners put way to much pressure on the spine and can cause more samage to an already hurt back. Sorry but that came from 3 different specialists that have been treating my wife in tandem. She goes in for surgery on the L-5 on the 18th. Its way better on you back to sit up straight or lay flat on the bed or floor. Hope you get better soon and sorry for the loss of your Cobra.

Sorry about the car, get well soon. Like some of these guys are saying, don't take your back issue lightly and get the best help possible.
