So I looked at the kit (U7778) Diablosport had for sale and realized it was too expensive for how cheap it looked. http://diablosport.shptron.com/p/u7...face-kit-usb?pp=32&sort_selection=recommended

So I did some research and this is what I came up with, hopefully this has not been covered before already.

The links posted cost a little more money due to the fact they are US sellers, you can get cheaper ones from communist countries.

Total price $10.48 compared to Diablosport $49.99

1. Get an AC adapter for WD hard drive. I had one at home but you can buy one off ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-Adapter-...=Laptop_Adapters_Chargers&hash=item4abb802e4c

2. Get a 9 pin to usb adapter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300552907072?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I have not downloaded the computer driver yet to install it since I just ordered the 9 pin today, but I know the AC adapter works since I had one here at the house. My AC adapter is for an external HD part # WD10000H1U-00 I will keep everyone posted on the progress.

Drivers from Diablosport https://www.diablosport.com/support-search-result/?pid=U7142

I haven't worked with Diablosport so not sure what ports it has. I'm assuming it only has a 9 pin serial which is why you're getting the 9 pin serial to usb adapter? Why the power transformer? to power up the handheld?

With SCT you just use a USB cable from your laptop to the X3 handheld and it powers the device up too.

I spent hours last night trying to get my predator to work on DS downloader! I am using the plugable 9 pin connector with a usb port on the other end. I have windows 7, and it said it was operating right. But DS downloader couldn't find my predator! This is annoying and frustrating because I'll be needing a start up tune emailed to me eventually!

EDIT: I do have an ac adapter and have power to my handheld, it's getting the diablo software to recognize my handheld that's the problem!

Malcolm: yes the ac adapter is used to power up the predator. The 9 pin connector hooks up to the bottom of the predator and the other end is a usb port that hooks up to the computer. And I still haven't got it to work.

Not sure if this is applicable to your situation but when I got the cable that connects from the Predator to the computer, I also got a cd with the drivers. You need to install the drivers for the connection to be picked up.

Also, the folks on the Diablosport forum are very helpful with troubleshooting ...

Windows 7 automatically installs the drivers once it's hooked up. It even said it's running properly and that it's installed.

You may have to go into the Legacy Connect (under File --> Options) and input the same com port that you see being used in Device Manager for your usb port. I remember having to do that before too.

Tried that too. I've had zero luck and countless hours. Ready to throw the handheld in the trash.
