catless with an H-pipe.

im catless with an x-pipe and just a tad too raspy in the low rpm's

I think at times the rasp at low rpms also has to do with your mufflers. My race bullets sounded very good at idle and to about 2500 rpms. Once I got into it yeah it got raspy :(
I am curious about what an H pipe would sound like on our truck though, got any h pipe vids?

ive had 2 mach's without cats....and listening to most mustangs without cats, the x is raspy and the H isnt. so thats why Im thinking H would sound better.

under 2500 rpm mine sounds meh, idle is nice, over 2500 is

I would stay catted in a L.

I rode in a L with an O/R H-pipe, and a Magnaflow exhaust, and that thing straight put my 03 Cobras O/R Prochamber with M55's to shame, and that's probably one of the loudest combo's you could put on a Cobra while keeping the factory manifolds. That truck was wake the dead loud even at idle, and having to yell at the person beside you while cruising at 60 MPH is not fun.

Yeah I was pretty much in awe at how loud this truck was. This truck was pretty much race car loud, and must not represent every O/R midpipe/aftermarket exhaust L. To be honest I don't know what made his truck so loud as it seemed quite a bit louder than the truck in your first video especially at idle. As far as I know it was just your typical port/pulley/CAI/O/R H-pipe/Magnaflow exhaust truck.

I actually met the guy because he PM'ed me when I first joined LR and he saw that I had a stock exhaust as he wanted to trade me. He bought the truck with that exhaust already on it and it was way louder than what he wanted. He told me his truck was loud, but holy hell did it shock me. To be honest it does seem to me that most L's you see riding by with aftermarket systems do tend to be louder than most Mustangs you see with aftermarket systems.

I just have a Flowmaster exhaust on my truck know and it's not that much loader than the factory exhaust. It produces a nice rumble without being offensive though. Most people seem to not like the L's flowmaster exhaust with aftermarket midpipes and headers though.

I dont care how loud mine is. Its wake the dead loud when I romp on it...Ive made guys tearing across the highway on their harley's at 80mph break their necks and turn to see my noise maker.

at 70mph cruising and idle though its very tolerable still.

I agree I like my vehicles to be loud at WOT, but at the same time they need to be quite enough to ride comfortably when cruising and not so loud that you have to lean over towards and talk really loud so that the person by you can hear what you are saying. It also doesn't need to be near race car loud at idle. That's just a little too much for a street driven vehicle IMO.

I would get the high flow cats and punch them out. I have had 2 cops look under my truck and they thought they were legit cats.

the cops dont do that here, but the resonators look like little bullet cats, and when i had to get a hanger welded in the guy at the muffler shop thought it had cats, lol.

Quick question on this same subject.

The smell and volume of a catless exhaust aside, do all catless Lightning's smoke like Dustan's was doing in his videos? Or could that have just possibly been due to a cold start?
