Those were the first two questions I asked myself when I read this report. Doesn't make any sense. For sure there is a lot more to this story than the accuser is saying. People with a lot of money are targets for people like this, because often the accused just doesn't want to go through a trial (for multiple reasons even if they are 100% innocent) so it's easier to settle and move on.
Who knows if it's true or not, but I think it's funny that people here think this guy wouldn't be capable of committing such a crime...

QFT.... Ford is the one who went to HIM. Not the other way around. They wanted the "Shelby" name as a marketing tool. Of course he wanted a cut for them to use HIS name- duh!! wouldn't you?
Sheesh- if you all don't like products with the "Shelby" name don't buy it! It's not really all that complicated is it?:shrug:
Regardless of the few on here that say they wish Ford would drop the Shelby badging, there is many, many more out there that buy the car because of that name. It's sad, but that is a fact that the marketing division knew very well, and why they were willing to buy into the trademark. It's no different than companies that spend millions just to have some schmuck ball player wear their products for advertising. I have had more than one person say to me "Oh, I thought your car was a Shelby. Too bad it isn't, because then you would have something!" I guess it suddenly makes my Terminator nothing because it doen't have Shelby lettering across the hood.:shrug:
with regard to the lawsuit, I feel that the truth lies somewhere between the "victim's" allegations, and what really happened. I have no doubt that some inappropriate stuff may have occurred there because Shelby is very old school, and comes from a time when this stuff was not only very common, but was just considered normal. I have no love for Shelby after seeing the b.s. he put Factory Five Racing through in the '90's with his multiple trademark lawsuits, but in this case, he is most likely being targeted because of deep pockets, and a created opportunity. Karma is a bitch as they say...;-)

True, but from the way I interpreted the allegations, Shelby himself didn't rape her anyway. He is being sued for "looking the other way" when one of his employees raped her by not doing anything about it after it was reported. It did say he "groped" her, but that can be anything from a slap on the butt, to a full scale pin her down, and feel her up kind of thing, so either way, even though it may have been inappropriate touching, HE still didn't rape her himself.
I really wish someone could post pics of the alleged victim so SVTPerf. could critique the photos and decide whether it happened or not!:rolling::-D
my problem is the extent of the claims, not who the accused is. how anyone could think that this doesn't just sound absurd in the least is beyond me. sure, it's in the realm of possibility, but there is a shit load of stretching going on here.
