I wouldn't be worried with the mileage. I would get new retainers while the heads are torn apart.

It should not cost $2k in just parts. Get a custom set spec'd for you.. should be around $1k. Livernois sells springs good enough for aftermarket cams, and utilize the stock retainers/keepers. They are $350 I believe.

Have you even priced cams? Cheapest brand name cams I've found are in the 1200 dollar range alone. Not to mention the springs and I absolutely would not reuse the stock retainers. If your going to do it, do it right.

So yes, it would be VERY close to 2k for parts to do it right. About 1800 to be exact.
