Cam alignment tool

Anyone familiar with a tool rental place that I can rent the camshaft alignment tool from? I need to install the secondary chains on the cams and from what I’ve read this is the best way to ensure 100% accuracy.

For 100% accuracy you'll need to degree the cams. I've assembled a few engines and never used the tools.

In case anyone comes across this while wondering the same thing, I was able to get everything together without any special tools.

I simply installed the secondary chains (the ones that connect the camshafts to each other) then once the heads were torqued down, I installed the primary chains one at a time by turning the crankshaft just enough to get the marks and chains lined up.

It was not difficult at all once I understood the way it all aligned.

I've done the same thing, works great. just make sure you have the crank and heads already in time when you bolt them together... or you will need to pop off the followers.
