The gulf oil production is shut down due to Ike. Our gas has jumped from $3.47 to $3.69 today. Just filled up the Expedition for $87!:mj:

From what I heard on the news the gas spike is from OPEC pulling production back by 500k barrels a day since demand has dropped. I also heard that Ike wasn't going to affect the gulf drilling platforms.

that better not be true:fm: they raise our prices to cut our use and then cut our supply and dont lower prices

Funny how hurricanes in the gulf never seemed to effect gas prices until Katrina skyrocketed them. Now every single storm raises prices.

Well, I don't know too much about how hurricanes effect gas prices but a storm the size of Katrina doesn't come along that often. Maybe every 20 years or so one hits the coast with that kind of intensity. I guess if it's a really big/strong one when it comes to shore and there's a lot of platforms and refineries in it's path...yes it'll effect gas prices.

This Ike one is almost the size of Texas now but who knows if it'll maintain it's strength and size for the next 24 hours. If it hits Houston dead on and maintains a category 3 rating and above...it'll be trouble for sure!!!

I wish you guys luck down there in Houston...take care!!!

Later...Dave
