may parents are headed up north for a month so they wanted to give me my birthday gift early. what I got I sure as hell was not expecting and I don't even know what to think.

but first a little back story

my grandfather who i never met was a tool and die maker in ashtabula ohio where i grew up. he taught both my father and my uncle everything he knew and both my dad and me uncle continued making there own flintlock and cap and ball rifles and pistols for many years as a side hobby. right before i came into the piture my uncle and my dad had a falling out and they litteraly went 20 years without speaking. so i never met my uncle. since guns were my dad and uncles thing, my dad stopped making guns all together. i ended up a collector myself but it was always purchased things. well about 5 years ago my uncle and my dad were reunited and they are like best friends again. well my dad who is 70 years old and my uncle who is now 73 have spend every single day for the past 6 months making me my own custom rifle from the two the them. the best part is the barrle and the lock are both HAND MADE by my GRANDFATHER!!! the stock is made out of a solid piece of tiger maple from the farm in ohio. i am speachless

What an amazing gift. How cool will it be to pass down for a few hundred years.

Thats the idea. It will get passed down to my son some day.
I cant get over my grandfather hand forged a demacus twist barrel by himelf. Then never finished the gun then 50 years later my dad and uncle finish it for me.
That is cool. It sure beats a gift card.

No kidding

Sure is purddy they did a great job on the build

Thank you

Ditto on this comment. The story alone makes it an awesome gift.

The fact that you're a collector and this is handmade by your dad and his dad makes it so special. What a gift! And they did a great job on it.

I plan on it... were gonna try it out this weekend.

Thank you so much guys. I am amazed at it. Its pretty damn good considering my dad and uncle were just two farm boys and later on my dad was a chef for 35 years

Cool gun. But more importantly...

Whats up with your toe?

Sorry that was my dads foot... hes 70 and has blood sugar problems so its hell on his feet

Words can't really describe how cool that is. Just a thought though, a black & white picture of you, your father, & your uncle holding flintlock rifles would be great to display with that.
