Hey guys,
I've been doing some work here and there on my notch. I recently bought it this May. I've heard plenty of talk about the TFI module going bad on these cars all the time, so I figured I'd install the MRM mk3 TFI module relocation kit.
It's recommended to buy a new TFI module when doing this upgrade. Well I bought a new one from Autonation Ford. I guess even new ones can be defective. After installing the kit, the car would start right up, run for a couple minutes then shut off. Sometimes it would start, then die right away. So I ended up installing the one that's been on the car.
Autonation is sending me another one, I'll likely test it, make sure it works, then throw it in the glove box.
Been doing a lot of other routine maintenance stuff. I'd like to eventually go through all the battery cables and grounds. The battery is mounted in the trunk. Lately it seems to crank very slowly. So I upgraded to a redtop optima battery with 800 CCA. The one previously in the car only had 580 CCA.
I'd eventually like to install the little mtx 8" tube subwoofer I bought.
I haven't driven the car that far yet, I want to make sure I can trust it and not get stranded. I'd like to eventually get it on a dyno and have the tune all checked out.
Things I've done so far:
TFI module relocation kit
New redtop battery
Plugs, wires, distributor cap
Fuel filter
Fuel pressure regulator
IRS rear sway bar end links
Front tie rods
New harmonic balancer
Valve cover gaskets with arp studs
New CD player
Center console with cup holders
85 style tail lights
Couple other miscellaneous stuff. But I'll keep this thread going with any and all other upgrades I do.
