    Hey guys,

I've been doing some work here and there on my notch. I recently bought it this May. I've heard plenty of talk about the TFI module going bad on these cars all the time, so I figured I'd install the MRM mk3 TFI module relocation kit.

It's recommended to buy a new TFI module when doing this upgrade. Well I bought a new one from Autonation Ford. I guess even new ones can be defective. After installing the kit, the car would start right up, run for a couple minutes then shut off. Sometimes it would start, then die right away. So I ended up installing the one that's been on the car.

Autonation is sending me another one, I'll likely test it, make sure it works, then throw it in the glove box.

Been doing a lot of other routine maintenance stuff. I'd like to eventually go through all the battery cables and grounds. The battery is mounted in the trunk. Lately it seems to crank very slowly. So I upgraded to a redtop optima battery with 800 CCA. The one previously in the car only had 580 CCA.

I'd eventually like to install the little mtx 8" tube subwoofer I bought.

I haven't driven the car that far yet, I want to make sure I can trust it and not get stranded. I'd like to eventually get it on a dyno and have the tune all checked out.

    Things I've done so far:

    TFI module relocation kit
    New redtop battery
    Plugs, wires, distributor cap
    Fuel filter
    Fuel pressure regulator
IRS rear sway bar end links
    Front tie rods
    New harmonic balancer
Valve cover gaskets with arp studs
    New CD player
    Center console with cup holders
    85 style tail lights

Couple other miscellaneous stuff. But I'll keep this thread going with any and all other upgrades I do.

Congrats on the notch looks like a fun project. I hated the red top optima when I had one. Maybe you will have better luck.

I really like this car, would have never sold it if it were not for the silver one coming up for sale.
Were the valve covers leaking? I had just put new ones on there so they should have been fine.

Love the car. I actually just installed the same TFI relocation kit on mine as well. I’m currently in the process of recovering my headliner also.

Wanna do mine lol. I’m mechanically inclined but probably going to farm that out on mine.

Thanks, I'm doing little things just to personalize it a bit. So far the battery is good. The other one checked out good, probably be a perfect replacement for the old motorcraft battery in the cobra.
LoL, you're car is super nice! I'm jealous of it! I'll get some pictures of the cluster lit up.
Thanks Scott, truly was a nice smooth transaction! The valve covers were leaking a little, I added arp valve cover studs as well. Most people would have left it.

Good luck with the optima, I had 3 in a row fail a month after the warranty. Been running odyssey in everything now. Beautiful notch!

I was looking into those Odyssey batteries. The Deka battery that was in the car only had 580 cca. The car would crank over slowly. So I thought I'd try the optima which is 800 cca. Definitely turns over faster.
