I pieced mine together. I bought a Taylor battery box from Summit as well as the Flaming River push-pull switch. I went to the local welding supply and bought 25 ft of 1 gauge welding cable. Local auto part store had the lugs I needed.

Does anyone know of a direct bolt in kit for our cars? A specific package for a Mustang? Or are they all Universal? I want to be IHRA Legal so I have to go with a box. Any suggestions Plastic or Aluminum?

this is honestly the best way to go. i bought a kit from summit for my TransAm and i wasnt impressed so i sent it back. ended up making my own battery box and got some welding cable and lugs. i was able to make it fit the car better.

For the new cars with EPAS piecing together is the best way to do it. There are a couple things the kits don't account for like needing to have some way to connect the cable from the trunk to the main battery harness under the hood.

It's not installed as of now. I'm having the aluminum parts powder coated satin black.

Still a month out from what I was told and priced at over $600. Sounds like more that I should spend for what I need no?

I think the Lakewood is the best from what I have seen.

What about something for a GT500? Maybe something I missed out there?

for <$350 you can buy a lithium-ion battery that weighs 5lbs and mount it in the stock location ...unless you really just have a hardon for a battery in your trunk.

I am relocating the battery for a fuel cell to go in its place for Nitrous with a dedicated fuel system.

I see. you might be able to relocate a Lith-ion battery somewhere under the hood and save yourself some hassle and lose 30lbs in the process.

From what I have seen a Lith-Ion is $330 plus.

If you are not running an airbox you can probably fit it in that area. You can just find the dimensions of the battery you want to go with then make a mock up that you can test fit.

hmm good point. I guess you could always still access the trunk area by folding down the back seats, not ideal but problem solved.
