I don't get it. He can't see, hear, crawl, or even sit up. It seems selfish to me to let him continue in that existence. It's not like he will miraculously grow a brain.

:shrug: One of the Webster definitions of the word 'miracle' is an "extremely unusual event or accomplishment". So this most definitely could be called a miracle. In this case it's considered a miracle that he has lived to his first birthday. Most babies without a developed brain (this baby only has a brain stem) are still-born or die with minutes/hours/days for birth.
