Of course there are both moral and ethical boundaries in life. The problem is each person draws their line in the sand at different places. Usually based on their own youth and upbringing. Also the values that our parents and community help to instill in us when we are still vulnerable and impressionable.

Lastly our experiences in life both personally and professionally do help to establish our morality.

there's subjects that nobody will always agree on.. like capital punishment, abortion, homosexuality, drugs, etc.. as a society though we need to be accepting of others opinions and as a government, so with what the majority thinks (which is why we vote)..

Plus we're all adults here with our minds made up on our morals.. others won't be able to change them..

If we all draw a line in the sand at different places, is there nothing that we can agree upon? If I say rape is bad and someone says that it is okay, how can "my" morality be right and theirs be wrong? With this example, there are NO boundaries. A reaccuring theme here is that it would be wrong for "my" morality to overshadow "your" morality. No one seems to recognize that that is in itself a moral stance.

Is there a baseline belief that everone holds . . . Yes. No one wants THEIR stuff stolen, or THEIR body hurt, or THEIR children taken advantage of. It is in the application of this "law" that gets people in trouble.

Drugs . . . Do they hurt people . . . Yes. Should they be legal?
Cars . . . Do people die in cars? . . . Yes. Should they be legal?
Prostitution, Porn, Gambling, Abortion . . . . if the line is located at so many different places, what do we do.

There are definitely standards but I can't say they're absolute. I'm feelin' lazy so I'll just copy my earlier comment...

Child abuse/molestation, rape, domestic violence, non-self defense murders -- those are things that are more or less universally UNacceptable.

An amateur runner wants to run the Boston Marathon in under 4 hours so he's loading up on steroids? A lonely guy wants company for the evening and a willing lady is up for it? Rebel wants to smoke pot in the comforts of his own home? I don't see many reasons to prohibit such behavior amongst adults. I certainly wouldn't do ANY of that crap but I don't feel its right to say others shouldn't.

Besides, I'm sure we all have habits or vices that others would consider wrong. My g/f says the Sports Illustarted Swimsuit Edition sitting on my coffee table is wrong...lol But we all know that such is ohhhhhhhhh so right. :-D

BTW: We all can be pretty sure its wrong on all counts if someone is making someone else do something against their will or if someone is doing something that DIRECTLY impacts someone else's life in a negative fashion.

Some idiot wants to have unprotected sex with a stranger they just met in a club? That's their business. That idiot finds out they're HIV positive and they set out to infect others? I think we all can agree that shite isn't proper human behavior. :nono:

> Are some things just wrong?

Local, state and federal laws and statutes sure make it seem as if there are...

 LMAO...For the time being maybe we all should just follow such laws and statutes. People who attempt to blaze new trails by going against the grain have a tendency to hear the words...'GUILTY!' followed by 'HEREBY SENTENCE YOU...' :-D

The problem is that most persons morality on this planet, this country included, is NOT based on a rational philosophy, it is based on some sort of supernatural belief or some varaition on the theme.
