Not necessary, but for CAI and other bolt ons they are advised. See Van's 13-6 kit discussions. The plugs are only $20-$25 so it's something worth doing considering the cost. IMHO.

Nice color btw. Fastest color combo. ;-)

Stock plugs should be fine with those mods. They are high quality and will last 45k miles, as opposed to copper TR6's that may last 10k. The only time you really need plugs is when you up the boost (pulley).

No plug change needed until you bump boost a lot. With our Stage 3 package and a 2.40 pulley we tell customers to use stock plugs. Just re-gap to 032.
TR6 are the cheap way out. Some companies include them in "kits". It's because they're $2 each. Use Motorcraft SP 471s for a platinum or NGK TR7ix for iridium. Same 032 gap. About 3x as costly and will last a very long time as opposed to cheap, copper plugs in a $60k car.

Or you could pull your factory plugs and find they are not completely torqued down all the way or the plug gap is inconsistent.

My 13' all plugs gapped at .030

My 14' varied from .028 to .035 and two were hand tight.

Easy solution. Gap plugs correctly and change them. Even if they're .50 cents.

Lots of opinions. So stock plugs gapped at.032 and is the torq 15lbs?
Thanks all

How about TR6IX? gapped at .028.

Should last 2-3x the life of a tr6?

There's also the Denso which is sometimes harder to get.

Yes that's what he recommends, mine are gapped to that and it runs perfect.

so if you have already gotten the included plugs TR6. How would one know when they are no more good?

I wouldn't wait till they become bad to change them. My rule of thumb for copper plugs is to change them every 10k. It's very simple to do in the GT500 so this isn't a problem at all for me.
