Anyone ever added an additional Garage bay to a brick house?

If your adding to the room to make it wider and not longer your talking ripping off the entire roof off that section and redoing the entire roofline.

Honestly your looking at 50-75k to add a third stall and extended room doing it that way. If you leave the room above and do a single pitch roof off the side it would be much much cheaper.

It appears they used attic trusses to make that room which means that her entire office would be ripped out and thrown away to make the room/roof cover the entire 3 car garage.


Ya they did. Did not even think about that. So ya it would be $$$.

If you end up doing it they will frame out that entire section as a second floor and then add a typical roof truss from there. You will end up with an entire second floor over the garage, so me estimate of 50-75 is likely light now that I realize what they would do.

There's probably going to be a big difference in price to get the job done right. Im sure you can get lots of contractors that 'll show up and do the job with a crew of illegals for cheap. We live in a small town and there's a family of masons that go back generations. They go as far as salvaging used bricks from jobs so they can try to match existing structures. You pay extra for that kind of work, usually double.
