I have a solid axle swap on my 2003 cobra and a 2.9 Whipple waiting in my front room to go on tonight. I am looking for a track tire. Eventually I am going auto Prob next summer. So for no a Six speed with a Spec 3 + and a Billet steel flywheel (heavy) Hits the tires pretty hard. Can a 28 inch drag radial on a 15 inch rim 60 in the 1.4-1.5 range with the right rear parts on a six speed? Auto when I do make the swap?....

I'd think 1.5 possible but not sure bout the 28" tire . Someone posted bout week ago and think 28" was too tall . Hurt him more than helped

Don't want to pony up for skinnies and I HATE the sway up top with et streets and stockers up front. Already been down that road... Anyone else with good success? Car is going to make big power with a 2.9 whipple not sure a 28 will hurt me at all either... Probably settle things down a bit and a 28 radial WILL fit on a mustang as long as it's not rediculously dropped...

26 to a 28 inch tire depends on the gear you run as to whether or not it will hurt you. I have the M/T et street drag radial 315/35/17 and cutting consistent shitty 2.0x to 2.2x 60 ft times. its a decent tire but if i try to launch the car over 2k, it breaks loose. when these dr's are used up, think i'll get a street tire for the 10.5's and get a set of slicks for the track.

i had some mickey thompson et street radial and made a could of passes. they were the 275/40r17. i cut a 1.69 first pass and a 1.60 second pass. i ran 18 psi of pressure.

i got kicked off track for going to fast and no cage. 11.20 @ 128 (i miss shifted 2-3 gear it would have been a 10 sec pass)

I have them (275/60-15) on my 88LX. With a 3.73 rear and a 5 speed my best 60ft time was 1.49 at E-town leaving at 4500 rpm. Tire was at 18psi and absolutely NO swaying on the top end or the street (have skinnies as well). HTH

Power wise, its a 331ci with a vortech at 15psi. Flywheel power is a little over 600 with about 525 at the tire maybe. The rear is my stock 8.8 with welded tubes, Detroit Tru Trac, 3.73 gears, rear girdle, Strange 31 spline Pro Race axles and c-clip eliminators. Its mounted on Southside lift bars (remeber those?). Car goes 10.70. Race weight with me in it is 3400lbs.

Yes you can get in the 1.4's. It should be no problem to get the car to 60 ft those times. It's all in suspension set up. How much power are you planning on making with the 2.9?

I hear people say that MT Drag Radials are the best all the time. However, I purchased a set of M&H 275/50/17 drag radials and the MT's cant touch them!!!! My car is over 700HP and those M&H will hook it up well top of 1st and so on. The MT's would spin 1st and 2nd. I cant wait for the cooler weather to see how they hook on the track.
