Sounds like it landed in the northern fringes of the "spacecraft cemetery" an area in the south pacific focused around "point nemo" which is ~1600 miles from any land. Thise graveyard is the target for most retired satalite and space stations are de-orbited, and impact as its the most desolate area on the globe when it comes to land and human populations.
