My air bag light on my 03 came on recently and then my cruise control buttons and horn stopped working..anyone have any ideas or had this happen to them also??

I have a feeling the stealership will want a fortune if I bring it to them.

Maybe you pinched that whole harness in the steering column? I'd pull the plastic off and take a look to see if you can locate the issue.
Air bags don't usually randomly go off but if you have the wrong situation and wires arcing you might end up with a face pull of fabric in a turn.

Bad "clock spring", the industry nick name for the contact between the wheel and the column.

Ford basic part number 14A664.

Don't forget the SVTP discount we get at Tousley Ford.

get the code and then we can give ya some more info.

its usually a clock spring or a bad seat belt pretensioner

but the thing thats got me is the cruise and horn inop. the clock spring will not cause those to fail.

have you checked your power point to see if you havent blown a fuse perhaps?

Um Yes it will. Both those circuits have to go through the clock spring. The insulation fails on high mileage clock springs and those signals get shorted out.

In fact that is the reason I posted that. If both had not been inop it could have been a bunch of other things. Since both are inop I can practically guarantee it is the clock spring.
