98 vs 99 dash cluster

My odometer stopped working on my 98. Does anyone know if a 99-04 cluster would work. Have found them for sale for much cheaper

I know the odometer is digital but would it work?

No. 99+ clusters are microprocessor controlled and get most of their information from the CPM in digital from via the CAN bus.

It is really cheap and easy to replace your odometer gears which have turned to dust. Look up a gear kit on Ebay.
